750ml caged and corked bottle for $23.14. A clear deep amber, it comes with a +2 finger head of foam and looks to leave some nice lacing behind. It has a spicy malty aroma. A good dose of pepper is there as well as a tropical fruit smell. In fact, the latter most now dominates. Iím liking what Iím smelling. Wow, they were not kidding when they put this on the label...mango, papaya, and guava. Itís hitting my taste buds hard. I also get the pepper and an obvious flavour of vanilla and the flavour you get from oak aging. Itís soooo different yet so good. Full bodied with mild carbonation and not all that much heat, the mouthfeel and drinkability are pretty darned good. This *may* be my new favourite of the Woodcut series and Iíll probably get another one or 2.

Another great offering from the series. This had been cellared a while as I also had one about 6 months ago. I can say this continues to age well. Subtle oak and sweet malt aroma. Cloudy light amber color with a small head. Smooth and oily palate that coats the tongue. Nice overall blend of malts, fruits, oak, caramel, alcohol and a slight bitterness that added some spice. Too bad itís a one-time thing.

This was probably tremendous fresh, but that wasnít the case here. Thanks to Jcoppin for the bottle share. Aroma of sweet malt and a nuttiness, almost hazelnut. Creamy vanilla notes. Taste is sweet, malty and overwhelming vanilla and oak. An indescribable nuttiness to it. Still good, just not what it was meant to be.

Bomber at a bottle share. Pours a clear amber with a nice off-white head. Aroma of fruit, malt, and wood. Taste is tropical fruit, caramel malt, spice, and wood. Nice hop presence. Nice.

Had at the BGoA Winter tasting. Aroma is malty and sweet. Lots of caramel and bourbon barrel. Pours dark yellow. And hazy. Somewhat sweet. Nice beer.

Pours an unclear dark gold burnt orange with cream fizz. Big aroma of oak, vanilla, tropical fruits. The flavor is musty grains with a rounded fresh oak flavor and quirky tropical bouquet. The carbonation and fruits make the brew very bright, but the oak and grains make it extremely earthy and grounded which balances in itís own way. It is pretty unique and tasty, nice lingering after taste of musty fruits and oak.

750 c&c from Wine and Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours clear orange/amber with a slight beige head. Aroma is tropical fruit. Not strong tho. Med _ body. Flavor is woody, tropical and light stone fruits, toffee, and it coalesces into oaky astringency. Pretty tasty.

Bottle shared by bhensonb. Pours orange copper with a small beige head and a fruit and alcohol aroma. There is a hearty toffee flavor enhanced with lots of oak and an unusual hoppy finish, apparently the Mosaic influence. Very nice.

Bottle:   Muddy in color, moderate to large foamy sandy head, nice lacing.   Syrupy sweet nose, lots of oak, some dank candied citrus peel.   Not as sweet on the tongue, oakish, dank citrus peel and pith.   Could stand to be sweeter, more candied to balance the slight dryness of this one.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Could stand to be brighter overall.   The oak aging provides a nice background, but the maltiness with the candied citrus peel needs to be a bit more bright.   Strong, yet a bit dull at times.   Decent beer tho.   Hides the 10% ABV well!

Cloudy brown beer, very big cream coloured head. Palate is airy and mildly crisp. Fresh vanilla wood. medium sweet. Mild malt cream and minerals. Hops are very nice - lime and pine with lesser peach, apricot and other tropical fruits. Mild fresh hop sting and the hops are turn a little grassy. Finishes crispy. The abv is very well hidden in this sumptuous treat of an oak aged beer. Gorgeous.

Bottle #00662. Pours a slightly murky copper color with a medium foamy off-white head that dissipates steadily. Sticky rings of lacing on the glass. Ripe fruit, oak and malt in the nose. Full-bodied with flavors of pitted fruits, roast malt and woody yeast. The finish is fruity with an oaky aftertaste. Decent overall.
