5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 20/20
We don’t have words in the English language to describe this. Cherry, oak, coffee, vanilla, scotch, toffee, pineapple. Hops is present as a spice (clove) . Very milkstout direction.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Decent. Flavor has a fruity softness at first with coffee and chocolate at the end. Its an OK imperial stout but way overpriced

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ML corked and caged
Can not remember what shop I bought this in Boulder (after an Avery run)
Murky brownish black pour, settles black with a dark brown head that quickly fades to a thin collar. Does leave some strips of lacing and quick moving ABV legs.
Nose is oak (duh), chocolate fudge, vanilla, caramel, and slight undertones of fruit upfront. Peach or apricot fuzz mostly. Some roasted grain and ovalteen sort of powdered chocolate.
Taste is quite thin for the ABV. Thought it might be heftier really. Toasted oak, toasted vanilla, caramel, fudge, and toasted coconut.
Light bodied, just enough carbonation to keep this interesting really. Somewhat slick and oily. Big oak finish.
Cellar for a while and see how this progresses. Nice beer but should be more robust in the feel department.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Shared at a bomber tasting. Appearance: dark brown, light brown head, finger of head, sparce lacing. Aroma: apricot, vanilla, chocolate, fruitiness really stands out. Palate: full body, average carbonation, dry finish. Taste: malty and fruity sweetness. Overall, very good. I think aging a bottle of this could make it exceptional to round out some of the aromas a bit.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 ml bottle, caged and corked, from Evergreen Discount into my NBB globe glass. The cork blasted off and revealed a jet black appearance with a light brown head and moderate lacing. Strong aroma of dark malts, chocolate, roast, coffee, vanilla, molasses, oak and dark fruits. Similar flavor, mediumly sweet and complex with light bitterness, hiding the alcohol. Full body, smooth and creamy, soft carbonation and a lingering semi-sweet finish. An excellent sipper.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
750 ml bottle, number 06836-13. Pours dark brown black with a medium creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.
The aroma is vanilla oak and some grainy roast and black licorice.
The flavor is heavy roast, some sweet lactic vanilla and black licorice with some alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.
Overall, an OK but pricey imperial stout.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Boozy (as one should expect in an oak aged, 12.5%er), but in a good way. Rich, toasty beer.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 02/07/2014. Pours deep brown, nearly black, thick light tan head, plenty of lacing left behind. Aroma is sweet chocolate, dark fruit, roasted toffee with touch of coffee, brown sugar with nice mellow barrel character. Taste is deep bitter roast with moderately sweet chocolate cutting through, smoke and toasted oak with fair amount of booze in the finish. Medium heavy body. A bit rough maybe, but pretty decent.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
750 ml bottle shared by dudeabide- thanks, Nate! Pours a deep brown with almost no head. Aroma of booze, oak, chocolate, roast, vanilla, and brown sugar. Flavor of cola, root beer, chocolate, roast, vanilla, caramel, and booze. Medium-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a warm, rich mouthfeel. Doesn’t live up to the price tag, but it’s good.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Richard’s Tasting. Just about black in color with a khaki head. As always with the Woodcut beers, lots of oak. Some licorice, plenty of roasted malt, cocoa, and burnt sugar. Nice sweet vanilla and licorice flavors. Really, really oak forward. Massive wood in your mouth. Lots of roasted malt, cocoa, and a touch of dark fruit.
