hazy orange-ish brown with an ow head.
it smells and tastes of caramel, spicy wood business, vanilla, toffee, green wood, bruised apples and some resin.

I haven’t rated a beer in quite some time, but I had this about a month ago for a special occasion and thought it deserved a rating. One the most flavorful beers I have ever had. It is sour and tart with a whiskey barrel finish. Don’t think there is another beer like it anywhere. If you can find it still, I would definitely give it a whirl, the flavor is so unique.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 arminjewell (2442) - Parker, Colorado, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Pour thanks Aaron! Nice orange hazy pour with nice white head, aroma has notes of nice spice, oak, vanilla, some estery fruits, caramel and toffee, some white grape. Taste is lots of wood, oak and vanilla, some nice fruity notes and slight spice but pretty dominated by the oak. Good stuff, tasty, dry, and very woody.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 notalush (3613) - Denver, Colorado, USA - AUG 3, 2011
Bottle shared by adnielsen (thanks, Aaron) - clear sparkling gold pour - nose of oak, vanilla, honey, sugary sweetness - very sweet and fairly unidimensional up front, with some sticky toffee flavor dominating - strong, almost bitter and spicy oak character through the middle, with strong alcohol presence - gets a bit tangy on the tail end, bringing slightly more complex tropical fruit notes like orange and mango - okay, but overly sweet for my tastes.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Glowing, slightly dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Nice oaky, woody, citrusy, rich malty, slightly boozy nose. Rich caramel, toffee, moderately sweet woody, oaky flavor with a little bit of booze on the finish. Pretty sweet flavor but also nice and woody.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 emmasdad (85) - , Colorado, USA - JUL 8, 2011
Pours a fairly nice golden color, with a thin white head. Aromas of golden raisins, oak and pears. Similar on the palate, along with toffee, vanilla and maybe some warmth from the alcohol. Sweet and somewhat thin, I wasn’t all that impressed with my first foray into the Woodcut series, and have no plans to purchase any of these bottles.

Bottle at a tasting. Brown amber pour with some scant tan head. Sweet malt, light oak and some vanilla aroma. Vanilla, woody, toffee and caramel flavors front the flavor, with a bit of warming on the finish.
2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 Glouglouburp (4558) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - JUN 8, 2011
In short: A sadly lifeless and slightly oxidized sweet amber ale
How: Bottle 750ml. Bottle #3016. Consumed 1.5 year after the beer release
The look: Cloudy amber body topped by ring of white bubbles
In long: The bottle opened to a disappointingly low “pop”. Hmm, not looking good. Nose has some old wet cardboard over typical caramelized malts. Taste has caramel, lots of vanilla flowers and vanilla extract, honey, wet grass/vegetal notes, canned pears, wet cardboard, banana puree, butter, . Body was a bit lifeless with only sparse soft bubbles. I’m no fan of aging beer and I’m only drinking this beer now because I just got it from a store last week. But honestly I would have expected an 11% monster to be in better shape 1.5 year after its release. This felt like a 4 or 5 year old bottle. Did I get a bad bottle? This bottle was from the special private reserve of a Kansas state beer store so I’m assuming it was stored in somewhat decent conditions. But on the funny side, I’ve realized that when buy an expensive shitty beer I sound like a chicken. "Fuck fuck fuck fucka fuck it fuck fuck fucka fuck it”
