12 ounce bottle. Pours jet black with a small tight bubbly brown head. Aroma is smoky roasted malt with notes of licorice and dark chocolate. Rich roasted malt flavor has an elegant silky mouth feel. I get hints of charred wood and espresso upfront. The finish is bitter and dry with hints of tobacco and resiny hops. Very well done.

Pours an opaque black-brown with a tan head that drops quickly to a head cover, sheets of lace. Taste is a clean toasted malt with hints of dark chocolate (much more understated than in many heavy stouts - good!), followed by bittersweet hoppiness that moves things in balance through a long finish. Quite tasty, ideal with dessert or sweet cheeses. Highly recommended.

Very dark appearance. Slight head after pour. Great aroma. Tastes like a dark chocolate stout with a smooth finish.

First off thanks to SJ for this bottle. I enjoyed this stout very much. It has everything it needs, good notes of roast, coffee, dark fruit and a dry crisp finish. The only thing it is lacking in is the body. Sloghtly thin for my taste.

What a huge, beautiful beer! Served in my snifter at almost room temp, this beer exploded with aroma as soon as I poured it. Really nice head, and really nice color, though a little on the dark side. Lots of dough and chocolate notes come through on the flavor, as does tar and a bit of rasin characters. It finishes very clean! The only thing I would change...this would be 100% awesome spiced with a pepper! Fantastic RIS!
