UPDATED: APR 4, 2013 Serving: from tap (tap handle read Odin’s Gift Nordic amber ale)--at Napoli Pizzeria Ristorante. Aroma: moderate caramel malt. Appearance: average, frothy, off-white, initial head with fully diminishing longevity and fair lacing. Hazy, dark-red/light-brown body. Taste: lightly sweet, malty initial taste and lightly acidic and bitter finish with hints of roasted malt and smoke. Average duration. Palate: medium-bodied with oily texture and soft-to-lively carbonation. Overall: good, easy to drink, nothing not to like, but not really outstanding.

Beer is a dark rich red hue, and very clear. One finger of off white head recedes to light lacing. Looks fairly inviting. Smells of roasted malts and has an almost smoked aroma. Slight perfumy notes. Very malty taste with slight sweetness. Don’t get alot of juniper berries but they do make an appearance in the finish. Bitter and roasty aftertaste for most part. Creamy medium body that is quite enjoyable. Very fulfilling amber. I wish the juniper berries would have come to the dance a little more but I still enjoyed this none the less.

Pours a deep mahogany with a red tinge. Aroma is toast, tart berries, a little herbal. This has all the great aspects of a good amber - light hops, roasted, hints of cocoa, but also has a nice tart berry twist. Enjoyable.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID; listed as "Odin’t Gift: Amber Ale brewed with juniper berries." Pours a beautiful clear ruby red with a medium beige head with good retention. Weak nose consists of faint caramel, bready malt. Taste starts out sweet but turns bitter mid-palate. The juniper berries are noticeable, but unobtrusive (I would rather they be obtrusive!). Creamy mouthfeel and somewhat soft carbonation. Boring.

Sample at the Tap House Grill in Seattle. The beer is a dark reddish-amber color with a medium white head that burns away steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt and a touch of hops. Light-bodied with a biscuit malt character and notes of grassy hops. The finish is lightly bitter with an herbal hops aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Pours a semi-clear copper-red with a small light tan head and good lacing. Smell of malt, earth, caramel, berry, and a few hops. Taste is creamy, a bit tangy, caramel, malt, hops, and berry. Ends refreshing and the berries are not overpowering.

(22oz bomber thanks to bu11zeye) clear medium amber, soapy white bubbles. Nose of juniper, herbal, bushes, greenery, not much else. Taste of juniper, very herbal, leaves, bit of caramel malt, again not very complex.

Pours dark amber with a medium white head. A sweet and spicy aroma, with some roast. Slightly bitter, but the bitterness seems to be more from the berries and roast rather than through the hops. Nice roast bite. Some juniper flavor. Good overall roasty amber ale.
