3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Slightly minty notes (probably the juniper) and some coffee hints on the nose. Deep brown color with pronounced amber hues, soapy medium tan head. Flavor is dark chocolate with cacao nib pieces, juniper spice is noticeable in the bitterness and subtly in the taste. Medium body, good carbonation, finishes with an herbal snap. Was expecting to be overwhelmed with juniper and was not. It is an excellent interplay of what can normally be a strong spice in the depth of other flavors. Unique yet familiar--nicely executed.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 ounce bottle from a 6 pack. The aroma on this is very nice. Sweet, caramel, roasted maltiness with a little fruity acidity. A little nutty, too. Transparent dark amber body with a tan-yellow head present. Starts with a rather toasted and roasted malt character. Light underlying cereal, too. I get a little spice character from the juniper berries, but really not much. Finishes with a more toasted cereal (cheerios) maltiness. This is pretty tasty.

650ml brown bottle. Label just says "Odinís Gift". Amber and clear. Big whitish head with sticky edges and soft lacing. Nose has caramel malts, nut, wood, juniper. Taste has caramel and some woodiness. A bit nutty and earthy, woody finish. Soft body. Better than expected.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle. Reddish amber brown, off white head. Simple profile of caramel with earthy and tea-like undertones. No discernible juniper in here at all. Disappointing considering how the label pumped this up to be "great beer designed with great food in mind"-- Iím not interested in learning what they consider to be great food.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
12oz bottle poured into my wedding 6oz tasting glass. My wife bought this a little while ago in a mix-6 from TJs. I had little desire for the beer. I did not think this brewery would make anything interesting in this style, additionally juniper scares me. It pours with a small but tight head that maintains. Upon the first sniff I was surprised by the beer. First, no strong juniper. Then no strong hops flavor. Finally, a strong malt character. Is it possible, an amber ale that isnít hop-centric or flabby on the malt? Well, it is. Earthy and a bit cocoa. The flavor has an addition of lightly bitter hops and just a light herbal character (juniper?). It offsets the strong malt character. Thick body (for the style)with a bit of tingling carbonation.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
On tap at Portland Craft, pours a clear amber with a small beige head. Nose brings out bready malt and light earthiness. Flavour is dry and stale, with earthiness and bready malts. Not good at all. Very weak with off-flavours.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a tumbler on 03.23.14.
A: See through dark copper. Off white head. Nice lacing.
S: Caramel, dark fruit/berry. Sweet smelling.
T: Berry dominates. Woodiness, caramel, some bitterness are there too.
M: Creamy smooth.
O: This was a very interesting beer. I wasnít sure if the juniper berries would go well in an amber ale, but they do. The berries came on first, then the caramel, followed by a slight woodiness, and then a touch of bitterness. There was a great balance between the berries and the woodiness too. I enjoyed this one.

4.5 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
This is a great dark amber. Pours perfectly and smells great. Chocolaty malt, and much lighter than I expected. The juniper berries add a nice twist to the finish.
