3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
1/12/10 on draft at Hudson Public House, Seattle, Wa. Aroma goes sweet to peaty to smoky, very yummy. Appearance is dark brown with a tan head and good lacing. Flavor is soft, very sweet, but never cloying, with almost no bittering. Mouthfeel is almost nitrous, full bodied with a low carb feel. Overall, very easy drinking, with suprisingly low astringency. A worthy 800th review.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Itís hard to impress me with a black but this one was decently done. Pours red black with tan head and lace. Aromas of smoked caramels and nuts. Taste is nutty with a lingering bitter hop finish.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Thanks Tom for adding this. I was too lazy and did not want to figure out how to add a beer that is claimed to be a mix between stout and porter. Nose is roasty, charred, a little buttery with a hint of smoke. Pours dark brown/black with not much head. The flavor is also roasty, charred, and lightly sweet with a hint of butter. Smokey notes come through in the finish and are light. Dry lingering palate.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Shaker pint draft at Naked City Taphouse in Seattle, Washington. Pour is a hazed deep brown - pretty much black with a small khaki head. Aroma of butter sweetness and roasted char malt, a really weird combo - smelled a bit off to me, but also oddly well integrated so who knows, perhaps it is intended. Taste is sweet buttery fruit, followed by roast and char and ashiness. Palate is medium, coats the mouth a bit in a sweet soda sort of way. After the coating clears, there is an interesting mineral finish. Dry stout, with butter sweetness and roast smoke; not sure what this was trying to be.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at collins pub, was hanging out with a baseball crowd. Didnít like as much as the ruby, but it was still solid. Billed as a black ale, was surprised at how thick and stout like it turned out to be, but was decent though didnít really stand out much.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Naked City. Probably have to change the style on this one when we get some clear direction on it. Pours a deep mahogany with ruby edges. Nice creamy tan disc atop. Roasty, somewhat buttery nose. Creamy medium body, almost a bit slick. Roasty, brown bready, somewhat chocolatey notes on the mid-palate...along with a bit of butter. Roasty, mild finish.
