Bradrcr (778), Renton, Washington, USA Jul 1, 2008 7/1/08 From the bottle. Aroma is sweet/roast caramel lamt forward with a decent noble hop balance. Appearance is clear copper with a surprisingly well maintained white head. Flavor is extremely light, missing the aroma’s sweetness, and having only moderate noble hop bittering. Mouthfeel is low bodied with a low carb texture. Overall, this was better than expected for an NA, it’s just too bad it looks so good. Such trickery! subcell (95), Portsmouth, Virginia, USA Jun 30, 2008 I cannot drink this stuff but it is excellent to cook with. It compliments beef and does not give your food a bitter hop taste like the regular Odouls and does not give you food a burnt taste like some stouts do and it’s cheap. May 28, 2008 I had this a couple times when I was trying to see if I could be a responsible DD. That didn’t last long, ecspecially when drinking something like this. very clear amber colour, no head. aroma is a little stale- watery on the palate. obguthr (987), Poquoson, Virginia, USA May 3, 2008 Weak bready aroma of cherries. Clear, dark amber color, thin vanishing head. Worty flavor of rice with cherries underneath. Noticeable lack of body. There’s some flavor there, so it isn’t awful. Cheap quality, though. puboflyons (590), New Hampshire, USA Apr 30, 2008 From a 12 fl. oz (US) bottle with a Born on date of 08 Nov 06 and a code of CF07. It has a nice amber color for a L/A beer and a little bit of a beige head. I notice the malts and barley in the aroma much more than I anticipated. The malts are evident in the flavor too. It is watered down but it really is a pretty good L/A and I feel good giving it a rating above the average. daknole (2810), Plantation, Florida, USA Apr 30, 2008 This one is better than the original, but BARELY. Shouldnt be considered beer. Bad news. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Apr 5, 2008 Bottle (sample) at the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Association 2008 trade fair. The rep described as their attempt to replicate popular mainstream red beers such as Rickard’s and Keith’s (or in the States, Killian’s, I guess). Not exactly the highest aspirations, but they’ve done a pretty good job of it. Everything about it - appearance, aroma and flavour - are spot on for that style, and there’s none of the cloying, sticky sweetness that’s common in many near beers. If I was a mainstream beer drinker and had to avoid the booze for one reason or another, I’d probably be perfectly happy with this as an option.
