On tap @ Beer Temple (still the first batch brewed @ De Molen). Barman/Oedipus brewer Sander told me it was brewed with Sorachi Ace hops, lemongrass, szechuan pepper and other spices. Murky red-brown color. Uneven off-white head. Aroma’s: spices and herbs, anise, caramel, lightly acidic, medium bitter. Flavor is herbal spicy, lightly acidic, medium bitter. Body is medium. Finishes herbal spicy, dry, bitter. Some moderation on the spice side would be good.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; hazy golden yellow pour with a big bubbly white head, spice and lemon aroma, taste has light citrus, clove spice, some yeast action, tumultuous carbonation, very crisp and clean, enjoyable.

Yellow color beer with a frothy white head that disappears quickly. Aroma is fruity and flowery, peach and sweet malt. Flavor is bitterish with some malt sweetness. Medium body and high carbonation. Sticky end.

(Drinking date: 17 April 2015) Nice golden/orange hazy colour, with a white layer of frothy foam on top. Fresh aroma of lemon and biscuits and a bit of green peppers. Medium bitterness, good medium spicy-ness. Good fresh taste of citrus, biscuits and caramel. Really original taste! Medium body with medium to high carbonation. Overall a good, original, refreshing and delicious beer! Total score: 3.6

Bottle. Pours a hazy straw golden beer with a big white head on top. Aroma has massive barnyard, hay, funk, yeast, bread. Flavor is mildy tart, yeasty, light sweet with some fruity and peppery notes. Nice, strong carbonation, fizzy mouthfeel and a well balanced flavor. Aftertaste is a bit weird, bittersour and very strange, but that just suits the brewer perfectly. Decent stuff.

When I read about the pepper in this beer I was a bit sceptical. Pleasant surprise to enjoy this a lot. It is a good saison. Fresh, bitter and spicy. The pepper is there but subtly. Flavor is malts, yeast, some sour element, citrussy floral hops and, yes, peppery spices. I like it.

Bottle. Bier Huis, Ossett. Gold, with a light haze. Thin, bubbly, sticky, white head. Very grassy. Lemongrass is evident. Quite bready, and yeasty. Some peppery spice. Taste is spicy dry. Some bready sweetness. Palate is crisp, clean, and fresh. Lively carbonation. Hint of heat. Finishes mostly minerally dry. Some hop bitterness right at the end. Decent.
