330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ ABC Beers. Poured into a Hennessy cognac glass. No bottling date printed. Dark chestnut brown, light dark red copper hue, soy chocolate milk head, fizzing away soy milk bubbles. Nose is roasty, light herbal coffee, soy milk chocolate, touch chicory coffee, mellow roast. Taste is bitter herbal coffee, leaves, wild herbs, rooibos, grainy, lots of chicory coffee, cheap chalky chocolate, soy chocolate milk, hazelnut,… Light bodied & fizzy. It is a very light, fizzy almost UK style stout focused on herbal, rooisbos & liquorish type notes with roast. A sweetness that reminds me a bit of almond milk. Not really to my preferences but interesting and enjoyable all the same. I really like these guys, hopefully I will wind up at their brewpub one day & I will see their new releases available in Belgium so that I can tick them & keep up :) after all we aren’t too far removed, hell this beer was contract brewed in Belgium.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - BB 22/09/20, at Viisi Penniä, 20150220) The beer poured black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had creaminess, burnt malts and dark chocolate. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, liquorice, sweetness, earth and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A well done stout despite the a little bit excessive burtness.

It’s the coffee and the malty sweetness that dominate the taste of this beer. Hops are well present, not too much though. The whole is a bit watery and the body is too light for the style.

Bottle on the train home during the Isle of Wight Jolly. Pours black-brown with a rich, tan froth. The nose has lots of roast, burnt wood and dry chocolate. Light to medium sweet flavor with notes of ash, earth, chocolate and burnt meat. Medium bodied with average, massaging carbonation. Nice and roasty on the finish with dry, chalky cocoa. Good balance and depth. Solid.
