Perfectly balanced stout with a very smooth edge compared to uk stouts. Very enjoyable and well balanced aroma of chocolate malt.

Another great beer from Oedipus. They’re quickly becoming my favorite Amsterdammer brewery. Dark and sweet, not as thick or rich as some, but this stout has a roastyness that compliments its lighter complexion overall.

Tap @ BeerTemple, small sample. Dark color, medium brown head. Aroma of lots of roasted malt, some coffee and dark chocolate, slight fruity note. Roasty bitterness in taste, slight sweetness. Lots of flavor in this 6% brew. Good stuff.

Bottle @ Van Moll brewpub. Black colour with a fairly large sized light brown head. Smells roasty, coffee, sweet, red berries. Tastes coffee, very roasty, some iron, cacao.. Nice. Medium to full body, soft carbo.

On tap at Cafe Gollem, Amsterdam on 23rd March 2014. Sepia to black with part-lacing tan foam. Rich malt and sweet berries aroma. Richly roasty and spicy in-mouth with citric notes and burnt coffee. Tart citrus in finish. Mouthfeel zingy with fair amount of body. Loved it!

0,33 fles. Zeer donker bier met creme kraag. Aroma van koffie, cacao. Smaak is mooi bitter, lichte afdronk. Mooie stout die makkelijk drinkt van slechts 6%.

On tap @ Beertemple. 0,15 ltr sample. The aroma has roasted, coffee/chocolate maltiness. Black coloured beer with a medium, brown head. The taste is light-medium bitter, has some malty sweetness, roastiness, hint of fruit. Well bodied, round taste. Very full for a 6% beer.

330 ml. bottle @ home. Purchased @ ABC Beers. Poured into a Hennessy cognac glass. No bottling date printed. Dark chestnut brown, light dark red copper hue, soy chocolate milk head, fizzing away soy milk bubbles. Nose is roasty, light herbal coffee, soy milk chocolate, touch chicory coffee, mellow roast. Taste is bitter herbal coffee, leaves, wild herbs, rooibos, grainy, lots of chicory coffee, cheap chalky chocolate, soy chocolate milk, hazelnut,… Light bodied & fizzy. It is a very light, fizzy almost UK style stout focused on herbal, rooisbos & liquorish type notes with roast. A sweetness that reminds me a bit of almond milk. Not really to my preferences but interesting and enjoyable all the same. I really like these guys, hopefully I will wind up at their brewpub one day & I will see their new releases available in Belgium so that I can tick them & keep up :) after all we aren’t too far removed, hell this beer was contract brewed in Belgium.

(Drinking date: 15 April 2015) Medium aroma of burned malts, coffee and fresh hops. Very dark brown / pitch black colour. Nice creamy layer of beige foam on top. The taste is really delicious. It starts a bit sweet, and then a coffee bitterness kicks in. Bitter aftertaste like coffee and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is very soft, very good. Medium carbonation. Really good beer, really delicious! Total score: 4.0
