3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle, 75 cl, from Samson. Shared with Bas. Dark beer with only 0.5cm of caramel colored head. Scent is cherries and cassis. Taste is strawberry jam, dark chocolate and cold coffee. Easily drinkable. Palate is that of wine with a tiny bit of fizz. Very nice beer, the fact that it only comes in big bottles is no problem, but I’m not sure if it’s worth a whopping 12,50 euro per bottle.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Pours very dark brown with a medium tanned head. Aroma is roasted malts, quite some coffee and a little bit of cherry which becomes more pronounced after a while. Taste has chocolate, quite some cherry, tart and a soft bitter finish. Medium body, medium to high carbo. Quite like the combination of the cherries and the malts in this beer, well made.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled, large sample. Dark color, short frothy brown head. Aroma of dark bread, coffee, roasted malts, hint of cherry, hint of barnyard/farmhouse. Quite dry taste, roasted, slight sour note, bit fruity. It lacks some sweetness actually and the main aroma is dark bread and roastiness. Could have used some more balance. Cherries add some depth, but then again it’s like a Guinness and a Rodenbach, which are both nice separately, but they dont seem to fit with each other. I would suggest to cut the roast a bit and add some (milk) chocolat and/or caramel sweetness (maybe some lactose) to make it less dry.
