Diepzwart, stroperig bier. Korte rijping op een Glenfiddich vat geeft een milde whickytoets. In de neus caramel en naaldhout. De smaak is vol moutig, licht gebrand met tonen van stroop en koffie.

Big brownish lasting head. Nearly opaque black body goes hazy deep brown at edges. Roasty earthy barnyard aroma with roasted sugar notes. Dry-sweet earthy roasted coffee taste with barnyard and chocolate notes. Mid-to-full body. Mild, slightly fizzy mouthfeel, which goes hot at the end. Dry peppery orangey and roasty aftertaste with chocolatey notes. Salty barnyard and earth finish. It’s very unusual, and quite powerful. Parts of it are great, and some parts are a bit too in your face, but overall it’s not bad at all. (0.75l bottle, from Bier Koning, Amsterdam.)

Corked bottle. Black and opague. White pepper, roast, ash, whisky, apple syrup and a hint of peat in the aroma. Malty sweetish flavor, medium bodied, alcoholic. Roast, ash, licorice. Glenfiddich whisky noticeable. Not the very best in the field, but well done.

PotjeBier (2747) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 3, 2013
UPDATED: MAY 5, 2013 75 cl bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Pours a black color. Rocky, uneven beige head with lots of big bubbles through the denser foam. Upon opening, lots of sourness, not very promising, once in the glass there’s additional roast, some whiskey notes. Retronasal the sourness seems all but disappeared, but there’s brett, roast, little sweetness, a bit of wood, light whiskey, a bit raisins. Flavor is mildly sweet, roasted, mildly sour. Carbonation is quite high which gives this a bit of a thin mouthfeel. Finish is pretty nice, ashy, peaty and light roasted bitter, but too late. Reading their own description the brett & sourness is not intentional, and imo not satisfying. In which case €12,- for a bottle is quite hefty.... Amazingly enough, after letting it stand for a day, almost all of the brett & sourness had disappeared, which made this much more enjoyable - and I think more like it was intended. Which earned it a few extra points.
