A passable dark wheat beer, although after the initial flavour it seems a bit watery with little aftertaste.

(Oettinger Dunkles Hefeweizen) Bottle 500 ml at home, served into a big weizen glass, ABV 4.9% Brown and slightly hazy on the body, two fingers of thick, off-white head, with very good retention, leaving medium lacing on the glass. Lots of clove on the aroma, a sour touch, then ripe pears and bananas. Taste is fruity, lots of bananas, less clove now, bubblegum on the finish. Medium thin body, notable carbonation. Good and thirst quenching.

Bottle. Moderate dark bread for the malt, light dried grass for the hops, moderate dough for the yeast, with brown sugar in the background. Head is large, frothy, light beige with good lacing and is fully lasting. Color is hazy medium brown, Flavor starts lightly sweet and slightly acidic, then finishes slightly sweet and acidic. Palate is medium, watery with a lively carbonation. A fairly tasty middle of the road Dunkelweizen.

Shared a 50cl bottle. Pours an almost clear light brown colour with a fluffy white head. Aroma is spicy, light banana and earthy notes. Average carbonation and medium body. Taste is more bitter than sweet, but very light. Overall, a very drinkable beer but average.

Day 3 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, bottle from Rewe Bamberg shared on the train from Nuremberg to Freising, 26/01/14. Murky orange amber with a big off white head. Nose is earthy, light plastic twang, nana, light toffee aroma. Taste comprises yeast, light spice, banana. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, semi drying close. So so affair, a poor mans dunkelweizen, muted flavours.
