Slightly hazy yellow in colour with a thickish white head and lots of fine carbonation bubbles. As for smell, there isn’t much of one. Some grain but little else. Same for flavour, some grain, a bit of carbonation tingle, but little else. But what do you expect from a dortmunder? It is well within style and a good summer quaffer.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 08.10.14, at Berlin apartment, 20140420) The beer poured golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had grass, sweetness and malts. Palate was mediium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were sweetness, grass, grain, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was sweet and bitter. A too sweet brew with nice hop bite.

Straw in color, good head retention. Subtle malty aroma, some cereal, bread. Light in hops. Very refreshing and everything goes with a dortmunder export style.

Bottle on the train from Freising to Regensburg, Bamberg post Christmas jolly day 1. Pours perfectly clear, pale yellow with a light, white foam head. OK stuff, a bit of cereal here, light straw bitterness, doughy white bread. Light bodied with average carbonation. Clean finish with mild grass, florals, hay, cereal. Good one.

Bottle (from Rewe Freising), on the train from Freising to Regensburg, Bamberg post Xmas jolly day 1 - 24/01/14. Clear light golden with a good sized off white head. Nose is lightly toasted malts, citrus pang, straw. Taste comprises grain, cereals, lemon notes, grassy. Medium bodied, softish carbonation, drying closure. Adequate Helles, not sure why it gets such a low average score, haters of big brewers?
