50 cl. bottle @ home, bought in Germany. Dark brown/black with a big tan head which dissappears rather quickly. Roasted malts and nuts all the way with some coffee bitterness in the aftertaste. Good beer for a great price.

UPDATED: MAY 13, 2014 Great beer for only 46 cents. Don’t need to hide behind more expensive brands. Taste of caramell and roasted nuts.

0,5 l bottle. Black in colour, tastes a bit like coffee. Some chocolate, roasty and smoke. Absolutely superb comparing the price to other more expensive premium products.

En nariz notas a caramelo, manjar y caracter de lager, corona levemente tostada y consistente, color cafe oscuro brillante. Facil de beber, bastante consistente con los aromas.

Sorry for the german rating, but this is a lousy rating from my "newbie" time (2007-2009), and it’s not worth of being translated. I just added it for the statistics, and to complete my backlog!

For a cheap Oettigner Schwarzbier, is dark brown reddish, not fully black. Aroma with cholocate , coffee, roasted malt. Weak body, Creamy foam which vanishes quite quickly. Overall balanced, yet sweet, not much bitterness.. rather dull but drinkable.

Single bottle purchased at a Lidl grocery store in Bertchesgaden, Germany on 11/24/2011. Colour: Black and low head. Nose: Abundant amounts of ritz crackers make up the yeast profile, and there is a healthy serving of red liquorice to accompany it. Taste: Medium sweet, medium-light bitter, medium-light sour. Lot’s going on here.....traces of dark roast venezuelan coffee, plum cake, bbq meat char, soy sauce and toffee drizzle. Complicated stuff that is a touch unbalanced.

Acidic aroma. A bit on the sweet side of what I look for in Schwarzbier. Almost no head, Weak black color.

50cl often recycled bottle pours clear deep amber with dark ruby red hues and thin tan head. The aroma offers up a light amount of Bing cherry and raisin fruity esteriness followed quickly by some caramel malts and dark roasted malts. The taste has dark roasted malts mixing with thin rings of cherries and raisins and it then floats into the finish on a moderately dark and roasty and burnt malt and ever so slightly earthy hop carpet ride. At times I get a bit of caramel or toffee roaming around well of in the distance holding a green umbrella. Yeah . . . , a green one.
