Sehr dunkles Bier. Im Geruch süß, etwas röstig. Antrunk bitter-säuerlich. Erst spät kommt ein schokoladiger Ton mit ins Spiel, der aber keine wesentliche Verbesserung bewirkt. Wenig überzeugend. Test vom 13.2.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche

Test vom 28.11.2006, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 8,2,3,7,6,5 - 4,90

Bottle. Lovely color. Very dark brown with a red tint but is practically opaque. Aroma is metallic, unfortunately. Is sweet at the entry and dry at the finish, remaining metallic throughout. The flavors are better than the aromas but it still never becomes good. Just ok.

Oakes (15256) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - FEB 6, 2011
Light red-tinged brown. Thin malts on the nose - bland and metallic. Light toast character, watery, bland beer. Too lousy to be forgettable, unfortunately.

500 ml bottle in Germany. My last on the Oettinger tour. Pours a nice black color. Head is a nice brown color. Aroma is deep roasted malt with hints of fruit. Taste is very much the same as the aroma. This is a very smooth beer. Palate is very mellow for this type of beer. It is much better than Köstritzer hands down. Oettinger’s best so far!!!

50cl bottle bought in Germany, pours a brown-tinged black with a fast-vanishing beige head. Nose of roast malt and molasses with a touch of coffee, sweet and slightly prickly on the tongue, treacle toffee on the back of the palate, roasty with hints of fruitcake, long dark roast-bitter aftertaste. A very quaffable schwartz.

bottle shared with Tomaz. dark brown; tan head. aroma and flavors, light body, with mild caramel malts, touch of dark fruits, fizzy carbonation leaving a watery palate along with some bitterness. Again, nicely done, but weak and watery.
