COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We dry-hop this American Style India Pale Ale with seven grains and four domestic hop varieties by adding dry whole hops to the finishing tank so the beer rests "on top" of the hops for five extra days! Malty sweetness up front with big cascade and glacier hops in the finish -- a wonderfully drinkable IPA!

2008-08-16. Nice rich orange boy with a small beige head. (3+) Mild, muddy aroma of resiny hops and muted citrus. Similar flavour, some nice citrus highlights get subsumed by grainy malts and muddled resiny hops. Average palate. Meh. Okay. Bottle, Coles IPA Festival, Buffalo

Good hoppy nose on this copper/orange ale. The head is thick and rocky and does some heavy lacing. It has a strong floral aroma backed by pine and grapefruit. The flavor has light caramel malt, grapefruit juice, and a resinous bitterness that lasts long into the finish. Pretty decent effort.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (grain), lightly to moderately hoppy (grapefruit), with a hint of isopropyl alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Below average, or at least this sample was.

Copper color with a full heavy cream colored head. Even though the bubbles are larger the head does seem to be quite stable. Only hints of caramel come past the shield of grassy and lightly citric hops. Some mild hints of licorice, but the nose on this one makes me wonder that this really is... IPA, APA or perhaps an amber. Grapefruit peels and some citric jelly beans come to mind after the first sip. For some reason I feel like I am chewing on a hops root. The malt sweetness does not cover the sharp hops. I don’t catch the balance in this one.

Bottled and served in a standard pint glass: Hazed copper hue with a huge fluffy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of soapy and herbal vapours along with moderate citric and piney hops, chalky and earthy yeast esters and some caramel and biscuity malts.

The taste starts with some sharp bitterness and acidic fruity tones over grainy malts. There is a smack of resin but that leads to a chalky, medical, and astringent finish that I don’t really dig. The mouth feel is sharp and biting with heavy carbonation.

The finish of this beer (along with that soapy note on the nose) kept me from enjoying some of nice citric qualities found within.

Sampled at GABF on 9/17/2010. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from the tap. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is fruity and sweet, floral hops. A medium bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are floral and citrusy. Light to medium bitterness. Good carbonation. Nice balance. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle (12oz). Slightly hazy copper, average fizzy/rocky beige head. Simple but pleasant IPA aroma - light citrus juice malt, citrus/resin hops. Taste - sweeter than I thought it would be, more funk and less citrus hops, more generic bitter/light funk - pithy aftertaste. Average body, nice life to it, a little squeaky astringency, no aftertaste - pretty decent middle of the road IPA, my 4th Ofallon and none were lame - nice!

12 ounce bottle shared by Butters at Butters Slutfest 2.0, Richmond, VA, 4.23.11. Pours a clear amber color with a medium sized creamy tan head. Decent head retention and lacing. Aroma of bitter leafy hops with an earthy finish. The taste is citrus hops with some floral and tropical notes. Medium bodied.
