COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We dry-hop this American Style India Pale Ale with seven grains and four domestic hop varieties by adding dry whole hops to the finishing tank so the beer rests "on top" of the hops for five extra days! Malty sweetness up front with big cascade and glacier hops in the finish -- a wonderfully drinkable IPA!

UPDATED: NOV 2, 2007 From a bottle purchased at Lukas Liquors in KC. The body was medium to light bronze with a khaki head. The aroma was grapefruit with sweet grape juice. There was also some floral notes of dandelion. The taste was grapefruit with some bread crust and minerals. This was uninspiring. The body was smooth and light. Tried again recently, it is decent.

Sampled from a 12-oz bottle during Dark Lord Day ’09 at table 3. Pours a semi-hazy copper colored brew with an nice sized off-white head that slowly dissipates to a white ring. Aroma of caramel malt with grapefruit and citrus character with a touch of lemon and herbs. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of grapefruit, citrus zest, a hint of front lawn and a touch of caramel. Finish is semi-sweet, a nice bitterness with a lingering grapefruit and grassy hop aftertaste.

Bonus bottle courtesy of Beerman6686. Pours hazy copper with tall, nearly frothy, tan head. The aroma has caramel and malt sweetness to go along with mild pine hops. The taste feels a bit thick and sweet initially. It quickly fills up with pine hop bitterness that never reaches the point of over shadowing the sweet malts. Nice malt forward brew that thins out into the finish leaving a touch of caramel and a nice layer of pine hop bitterness heading into the after taste.

12oz. Bottle: Sweet aroma. Smells of hops, resin, caramel, grapefruit, and some pine. Gusher! Poured amber/orange in color with a huge, foamy, creamy, rocky, light tan head that lasted throughout. Cloudy. Lightly sparkling. Some medium-sized particles. Flavor is lightly sweet and medium bitter. Tastes of hops, caramel malts, resin, pine, and grains. Medium body. Average texture. Average carbonation. Lightly dry hop finish.

Bottle from Party Source. This beer pours a mostly clear copper color with a medium light beige head that has decent retention. Patchy lacing on the back half of the glass. Piney hops and mild malt in the nose. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character, and flavors of pine and grapefruit along with a touch of malt. The finish is citrus and hops with a somewhat sweet underlying malt that lingers awhile. Above average all around.

(Draught) Hazy amber with a smallish, firm head. Lots of conifer in the aroma, with some caramely malt. Somewhat yeasty flavor with caramely malt and conifer-hoppy notes. Quite sparingly hopped for an IPA. Almost medium body, quite carbonated. Ok, but that’s not quite enough for an IPA.

UPDATED: JUL 1, 2010 Several drafts at St Louis Microfest, 5/13/06 ... one of my favorites from this outing. Beautiful orange-tinged amber color. Smooth texture. Nice oily hoppiness. I loved it. Re-rated in 2010 from a bottle. Still a solid malty IPA with a rustic appeal, but not quite as meaty as I’d like. Bit of an off finish.

Nose is floral with some doughy malts, caramel sweetness, and a hint of orange and generic citrus. Pours murky orange, no head or lace. Flavor is lightly hopped, floral up front, caramel and doughy sweetness, light citrus and floral hops round out the finish. Not resiny or really very hoppy overall, but easy to drink and well made.
