Bottle. Pours nearly black with a small tan head. Bitter somewhat herbal nose. Pleasant toasted flavor, except for a hit of something like licorice in the end that was somewhat off-putting.

Sweet sorghum licorices smell. Pitch black thin head from bottle. Taste is a bitter sweet sorghum strong flavor. Thick body. Weird flavor if anyone likes molasses it would be an awesome beer.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours a deep brown with a short tan head and lacing. The aroma is faint, with some malt and caramel and a small amount of coffee. The flavor is sweet, with caramel and coffee up front and a long, sweet aftertaste.

3.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle pours reddish dark brown with tan head. Smells of very lightly roasted malt. The taste is smooth and grainy, with a nutty finish. There is some fruit in it but all minimal, apple and a tangerine bitter with a seed and dry roasted nut twist in the finish. The carbonation is healthy but light enough it goes down quickly. I see moderate scores for this but I really enjoy this beer and look forward to it as a great seasonal brew. It really has a lot to offer in a low key way, no big pow of flavors, just a simple beer done very well.

Sampled at Great Taste í11. A nutty, roasty black beer with firm bitterness. Went down quite easy but plenty of character here. Hope to find it again.

Bottle - jet black with a medium brown head. Had a nice rich coffee flavor to it, medium body and an oily mouthfeel. Better than I expected.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The hemp seeds have a slightly sour taste on the back end. Itís a light and clean beer throughout, but was disappointing overall.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted from bottle into standard pint glass. Poured a very, very dark brown color with fluffy off-white foam, long-lasting with good lace. Strong, pleasant aromas of roasted grains, fresh-baked bread, fruitcake, some citrusy hops. Fruity and dry dark ale flavors reminiscent of Smithwicks or Black Toad, but much hoppier. I like the idea of brewing with hemp seeds, but I thinks itís mainly a marketing angle. Botanically, hemp is nearly interchangeable with hops, so there isnít much too distinguish this from a recipe with an equal amount of hops instead. Light-medium body, slick mouthfeel, fruity and refreshing aftertaste. Overall, tasty and highly drinkable.
