3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted from bottle into standard pint glass. Poured a very, very dark brown color with fluffy off-white foam, long-lasting with good lace. Strong, pleasant aromas of roasted grains, fresh-baked bread, fruitcake, some citrusy hops. Fruity and dry dark ale flavors reminiscent of Smithwicks or Black Toad, but much hoppier. I like the idea of brewing with hemp seeds, but I thinks itís mainly a marketing angle. Botanically, hemp is nearly interchangeable with hops, so there isnít much too distinguish this from a recipe with an equal amount of hops instead. Light-medium body, slick mouthfeel, fruity and refreshing aftertaste. Overall, tasty and highly drinkable.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle from Pickís poured into a shaker. Bottle aged from last winter. Pours a very dark black with almost no head. Aroma of roasty coffee malt and some slighlty sweet citrus hops. Taste starts lightly sweet and ends lightly bitter. Taste of oats, honey and a slight aftertaste of coffee. Medium-full bodied with a thick and creamy texture. Fizzy carbonation and a long sweet finish. Overall, not too bad. Nothing I would seek out but probably something to try at least once. Iíve really never had anything quite like it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Lightly grainy, lightly toasty nose, caramel base with spicy rye and a nice dank/woody contribution from the Amarillo. Light chocolate tone. Copper-highlighted brown with a sudsy tan head. Black taste, light roast with light citrus accents, lots of beautiful silken chocolate tones (as a chocolate porter) and some burnt coffee. Dryish and crisp, low bitterness, a little hop grit and stickiness. Medium body and very easy drinking. Really enjoyed this as a layered, complex beer for every day.
