COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Try this medium-bodied red ale, a malty brew with hints of caramel and toasted bread. It’s smooth and balanced, with a subtle earthy and spicy flavor and aroma from the hops and peated smoked malt. It’s the perfect beer to transition from the heavy dark beers of winter to the lighter more quaffable beers of summer. Grain: 2-Row, Munich 10L, Caramel 40L, Extra Special Malt, Caramel 20L, Peated Smoked Malt. Hops: Magnum, Tradition

Pours a beautiful, clear, crimson; very little head; noticeable aroma of smoke. A slick mouthfeel and very pronounced smoked peat flavor, which I happen to like quite a bit, and the phenolic quality that often accompanies smoked peat. While this is not a typical Irish Red, it’s definitely one that stands out among the crowd of lackluster examples. Unique and enjoyable.

Clear, brownish-red pour with an off-white head. Caramel is dominant in the aroma, but there is a mild woodiness. It has a light yet creamy texture with average carbonation. The taste is sweet, but finishes dry and a little smokey.

355ml twist off bottle. Amber/gold pour, foamy white head. Noticeable smoke and toast in the smell. The flavor continues this profile, slight smoke goes with some sweet malt tones and very light herbal hops. Suffers from weak body but otherwise nice. Certainly looks like they cleaned itup this year looking at old reviews.

Bottle. A deep red body is topped with a thin bright white head. Caramel and apples are in the nose. There is also some dry fall leaves. This tastes like highly toasted black tea and toffee. There is also some almond in the nutty finish. A highly carbonated body makes this a little hard to drink quickly. A decent beer.

It poured a dark brown/reddish color with an off-brown head. The aroma was of malts with some caramel. The taste was similar to the aroma, with a little more of a bitter balance. This was a very good Irish Ale.

Bottle at Bigelos. A clear red pour with a small beige head. The aroma is quite malty with more gentle fruit. The flavor begins with bready malts and yeast. Hops are present but are in the background. They add light fruit, floral notes, and some character from bitterness. If there is peat it is Iight. Caramel is nice. While I don’t really taste everything that is described, this is a nice beer. It is finishing more like an ESB.

Pours a dark reddish color, aroma of toasted malts, with a decent malty flavor coming through, not to bad.

Bottle. Never had a bad beer from this brewery. Deep red color. Very light tan head. Smoky, caramel, toast aroma. Taste is a smoky flavor. Good stuff.

Tasted from 12oz brown bottle into nonic glass. It poured a clear dark brown color, red at the edges, with long-lasting beige foam and lace. Rich malty aromas and flavors, hints of caramel. Hops were used appropriately for bitter balance, but not much in flavor/aroma. True-to-style and tasty, better than Killian’s of course, but nothing too memorable. Went great with my fish and chips dinner, I’ll tell you that.
