3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Undated 12 oz bottle with updated label showing the 2004 GABF Gold medal (best smoked beer).
Pours a very dark reddish-brown with a small, weak head.
Aroma: rather strongly smoky such that the other dark roasted malts are nearly hidden. A hint of sweet, dark fruits.
The flavor is less smoky, but still at least medium.
Feel: medium-full body with light carbonation.
O: a rich, smoky porter that will work great with beef and other meats.

Bottle. It is my opinion that this is one of the best brewery’s around. Never been disappointed by one of there beers. Brown in color, small, light tan head. Aroma and taste is a light plesant smoky one.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Aroma of bacon bits and bready malt. Taste follows suit. I cannot get into these smoky bacon beers - they never taste like real bacon, just the imitation crap. There also isn’t enough of the porter element here - where is the roast, the chocolate, or the coffee? Has good carbonation and soft mouthfeel. Those are probably its best features. Won’t get again.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
Aroma is very roasty and meaty with hints of chocolate. Pours an opaque black with a tan ring and minimal lacing. The taste is robust. Dark roasted malt, fruit, and hints of chocolate and smoke. Medium body with medium carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel. Overall, I really liked this beer. Would definitely drink again. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Pours very dark brown or even black that’s not see-through with a very dark small to medium head. Heavy roast aroma with hints of chocolate I’m something like teriyaki. It has a taste of light bitter and medium sweet. It has a light body with a thin or slick texture. It’s not at all what I would expect from something so dark, but that’s not a bad thing. I can’t say that it’s a great beer or that I would look for it in a bar, but it’s something that I would suggest someone that likes porters.

This is one of the better beers from O’Fallon. The smoke aroma and flavor is strong, but not overwhelming. A bit of chocolate but its understated.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
12 oz bottle courtesy of Rebekah. Thanks. Pours a dark brown color with a small brown head that has fair retention. The nose is somewhat mild and understated with a sweet smoke aroma. The taste is smoke, ash, bitter walnuts and burnt grains. The palate is full with just a touch of grit and the carbonation is medium. Finishes dry with lingering smokiness. Overall: Very nice little smoked beer, one that I would hope comes in a six pack and is reasonably priced.

Bottle. Pours deep brown with a beige head. Smoked and sweet malts, with lighter roasted malty notes, and hints of soy sauce and cherry. Decent.
