COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
For Apex Predator Farmhouse Ale, we pitch the yeast cold, turn off the temperature control, and let the yeast do it’s thing. To our delight, it spat out the sweet scent of juicy fruit wafting from a frothy, white mane. Brewed only with grain and sugar unencumbered by the heat of the kiln, we create a hazy, golden body. Apex Predator gets its teeth from a generous Crystal dry-hopping that completes the dry finish with a fruity bite. Pounce on the opportunity to let it part your lips and you may find yourself at the top of the food chain.

(Rating #6317)

I had high hopes for this bottle but it exceeded even those. A top notch experiment does not lean on extremes to leave a memorable experience in the tongue and throat. If more Off Color shows up on the local shelves as singles I will not hesitate to grab them.

Aroma / Appearance - The cloudy lemonade floats in the glass radiating a warm orange glow. Foamy thin white head adds pleasant contrast. Tropical notes and vibrant and bright like yeast, hay, and fresh squeezed lemonade.

Flavor / Palate - Yeast, dryer sheets from a fresh box, and mango sparkle as they adhere to the tongue. An open refreshing profile is a breath of fresh air for the style. Rather than trying to stick to any ideal it goes its own way. The finish tastes a bit like a thin Jamba Juice smoothie consumed while folding warm laundry. I’d be hard pressed to pick another beer recently which has struck such a chord.

Bottle @ home, picked up at Liquor Mart in Boulder. HeyKevin recommendation! Pours a milky yellow appearance with a white head. The aroma has a little bit of cat piss and stink weed to go with some lemon, lots of passionfruit, and some funk. Medium light body. Quite herbal. Nicely toasted malts. Light lemon. Kind of dank, spicy hops. A little juicy. Kind of an odd ball while still being kind of fun.

I really enjoyed this, especially compared to the prior saison I had. White head. Big floral aroma with good dimensionality. Lemongrass appears. Good body, sustains itself well. Very good. Bottle.

Hazy, straw yellow body with a white cap. Aromas of grass, yeast, citrus. Cracked pepper and grain with floral notes. Light acetic character, finishing dry. Active carbonation with a touch of lemon tartness. Pretty good.

Hazy orange-yellow with small white head. Aroma is yeasty, lemon, grapefruit-- overall fruity. Taste was totally unexpected-- was anticipating a sweetness, like a Belgian, but instead it was mildly sour. Very subtle hops in the finish. Palate is wonderfully refreshing-- light and lots of carbonation, but still full bodied. In my mouth the aroma + taste morphs into... corn tortillas. Yes, you heard me right. And I like it!

(bottle) Pours a hazy light yellow color with a large white head and plenty of lacing. Smells of baked bread, peppercorn, skunky basil, light funk, grapefruit (?), and light bubblegum (not juicy fruit) in the background. It’s all a little understated. Flavor contains a more prominent hit of bubblegum, basil, mineral water, lemon, with bread and funk towards the finish. Perhaps just a peek of mint towards the end, as there’s a faint cooling sensation that crops up after drinking. Mouthfeel is medium and carbonation is lively. This would make for a good summer beer.
