For Apex Predator Farmhouse Ale, we pitch the yeast cold, turn off the temperature control, and let the yeast do it’s thing. To our delight, it spat out the sweet scent of juicy fruit wafting from a frothy, white mane. Brewed only with grain and sugar unencumbered by the heat of the kiln, we create a hazy, golden body. Apex Predator gets its teeth from a generous Crystal dry-hopping that completes the dry finish with a fruity bite. Pounce on the opportunity to let it part your lips and you may find yourself at the top of the food chain.

Fruity and funky. Maybe lemon. It's good. I like it more as it lingers in the glass. it doesn't scream it's own name so that you'd remember it. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

12 oz. bottle from The Party Source. Pours a hazy yellow gold with a huge, frothy white head, foamy and rocky, that heavily laces the glass and takes forever to settle, lasting as a soft cap all the way down. Aroma of lemon, bread, wildflowers, bright farmhouse funk, soap, white peach, grass, straw, and some minty and coriander-like herbs. Flavor of lemon, bread, lime, apricot, floral zest, some fruity and farmhouse funk, earthy grains, and a bit of peppery spice. Light-bodied, with moderate carbonation and a mouthfeel that’s initially bone dry but becomes fruitier and smoother as it opens up. Quite lovely.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. Light acidity in the aroma with some fruity esters, lemony. There is a soft spicy and earthy flavor. This is a damn fine beer.

Pour is hazy yellow with a white head and a nice lacing. Aroma is musty, coriander, grassy, dough, citrusy. Taste is orange juice citrus, funky yeast, doughy, with a hint of spicy bite on the finish. Nice healthy carbonation.

Lacto, then citrus aroma. Dry and juicy, sweet and a bit sour. Dry and acidic finish. The flavors tend more toward tropical, maybe pineapple. I’m getting spoiled by the quantity of great beers out there. This is a great beer, not the best ever, but $10/four-pack (on sale!)? Really?

12oz bottle. Hazy golden color with a large lasting white head. Very fruity aroma, citrusy with pineapple, mango, and lemon. The flavor is also fruity, mildly sweet and mildly tart. Medium bodied with a dank palate. Good.

Smells orange, yeast, wheat, slight funk. Pour light gold, slightly cloudy with a thick white head. Tastes bright, like sunshine. Orange and apple notes, spice, no funk, not bitter, not sweet. Medium body, highly carbonated, dry finish. Well balanced beer. Disclosure: I love Farmhand ales.

12oz bottle. Pours only slightly hazy yellow, white head, low retention. Aroma is honey, peach, bubblegum. Flavor is fruity, sweet, noticeably hopped and with middling hop bitterness on the end. Slightly funky, dry, and spicy. Highly carbonated, creamy mouthfeel, but a dry finish that stays with you. Interesting, well worth a try.

Bottle from Meuelemans. Very pale cloudy yellow with lasting head and lace. Very spicy aroma bready wheaty tang and lemon zest. Mild tropical fruit sweetness with wheaty tang and umami (?) and fairly dry spicy finish with hints of citrus. Medium light body. Soft mouthcoating palate. Interesting and complex. Takes aminute to get used to especially the very bready doughy aroma. But very good.

This was poured into a tulip. The appearance was a hazy yellow color with a one and a half finger white foamy head that dissipated within less than a minute. Lacing was slightly spotty and here and there. The smell had nice fresh sweet grassy tones roll over light sweet bready yeasty orange aromas. With a little bit of pepper, everything rounds out super nice. The taste had a sticky sweet flavor rolling over the light breadiness and bringing in a nice semi-spiced flavoring underneath. There’s a sweet sticky aftertaste with a quick little spiced sweet finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a nice sessionability about it. Carbonation is light and pretty good allowing the sweet breadiness and light spices stick to my tongue nicely. Overall, this was a really nice saison, semi-dry that I would love to have again.
