3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Super opaque dark brown. Very small tan head. Strong alcohol in the nose. Lactose, cereal, vanilla. Some deep fruitiness. Equally sweet and bitter. Alcohol is less present in the body than the nose. Medium heavy body, slight bit of wateriness. Touch of acidity. Longish finish. Very good.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Poured from a bottle.
Aroma is rather sugary with marshmallow and vanilla. Some light roast and moderate chocolate notes. Light alcohol spice. Faint dark fruit notes.
Pours black with a small, thin, dark mocha head that quickly disappears. No lacing and moderately long legs.
Flavor is rather sweet with quite a bit of vanilla and marshmallow. Moderate chocolate notes with some light dark chocolate and roast character. Medium bitterness. Lingering chocolate, vanilla and marshmallow with some light alcohol spice.
Mouthfeel is full bodied and fairly sticky with low carbonation. No astringency and medium low alcohol warmth.
Overall, an alright stout but not my preferred type. Way too sticky and sweet and the adjuncts just aren’t my thing.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle acquired from Binnys Marcey (Chicago, IL). It’s kinda shocking I’ve never had the base but have had a few barreled iterations of this. Oh well. Pours a thicker black viscous pour, decent legs and an opaque body. More brownish as we hit the edges but still dark. A brownish smaller head is bubbly but dissipates quickly, small ring remains and laces small. Aromas are caramel and cocoa, vanilla is potent, marshmallow jabs, cocoa nibs, toast and coffee. Graham cracker and carmelized appeal, the mallow standing out, sweet yet calm, smoothing effecr. Initial is fuller bodied but not as heavy as anticipated. Roast and bitter appeal does its best, silky sweet semi sweet cocoa, coffee, earth and roasty malts. The marshmellow/vanilla appeal is less potent here than the nose let on but I think it’s for the best. Providing a nice bitter roast, coffee but a sufficient smoother, silky front end gets you through it. A touch of warmth, a jab of nuttiness, caramel and lingering toasty coffee. A bit more vanilla or marshmallow appeal, but the back and finish is toasty, bitter, and a bit warm as it emerges from the middle. A pretty solid Imperial Stout, very nice potent nose and a beer itself that has a nice flow through the elements, never getting too sweet. Perhaps a touch flabby and the pour could use a little work but this is pretty nice stuff.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Black beer with dark brown edges. Small light brown head. Appears to have fairly low carbonation. It has a nice mix of stout flavors. Medium roast on top of medium fudge with a solidly medium caramel-graham cracker base. Vanilla is fairly mild, and I’d actually prefer more of it. That all sounds dismissive and negative, but it’s actually a very solid stout; it’s just not really remarkable in any particular respect. The taste has a similar mix of stout flavors. They’re all quite nice. The beer is a solid jack of all trades. Mouthfeel is fairly creamy with a good amount of chewiness. This beer is good and well made. I have nothing negative to say. It just doesn’t grab me.

On tap at Třrst. Pours a deep black with a thin white head. Soft roast on the nose, a touch of cocoa. Medium bodied, muddied flavors of chocolate and marshmallow, hints of graham crackers. Toasty, chocolate, cocoa. Tasty enough, but doesn’t live up to the deScription.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Home. Black in color with a thin tan head. This does taste like marshmallows, wowe. A lot of semi-sweet chocolate, vanilla, and just a touch of booze. Even get a touch of chocolate covered banana as it warms up. Strong cocoa powder note adds a bit of bitterness and some fruitiness. Roasted malt and coffee notes are there but restrained. Despite being a gimmicky beer, I liked it...and I like smores (not surprisingly).

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Dove’s Luncheonette. Very thick and syrupy. Aroma is sweet, chocolatey, a little caramel. Not getting a lot of marshmallow, but does marshmallow really have a flavor? There was a lot of hype and IMHO it didn’t live up to it.

4.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Wow. Near black pour with deep tan head. Aroma is cocoa, vanilla and malt. I’ll be damned if marshmallow is added in the taste. This is desert.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from bottle into a tulip: Pours black with almost no head. Aroma of cocoa, vanilla, marshmallow, and roasted malt. Taste is lots of marshmallow, cocoa, and roasted goodness. Mildly sweet but well balanced with bitterness from roasted malt. Really nice stout.
