Cask-conditioned at the Cheshire Beeriodical, Seven Stars, Bristol October 2012. Near black with a decent, off-white head. Aroma of dark fruits and coffee. Flavour had more fruit, a touch of chocolate and dryish finish. Very good.

Cask at Holborn Whippet. Pours black with a brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has roasted malts and plum with a bit of backing smoke. Flavor has plum throughout with dark grains and roasted malts with a hint of backing smoke.

Cask conditioned at Oxford Beer Fest ’12. Dark brown with cream head. Initially sweetish and smooth with a squashed berry type flavour, then quite port like but without the alcohol note. Didn’t get any heat really, but the berr did become quite smooth. Pretty good.

Cask, The Salmon, Leicester. Near black with a cream foam. Aromas are earthy with blackberry and light roast coffee Lightly smoky with mellow grapefruit. Flavours are fruity with dry, peppery, earthy notes and some nutty coffee. Mixed berries with grapefruit bitterness. Lacks depth and malts. Decent.
