muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Feb 17, 2006 2004 edition, draught sample at EBF 2006. Hazy caramel with a bit of lasting head....cherry-medicinal nose, a bit of smoky peat helps but on the whole, not terribly pleasant, too sweet and burning....malty-sweet body, cherry-vanilla character along with lots of caramel, burnt wood, and a surprisingly strong alcoholic component for 8%....really has the character of diverse and interesting, but poorly mixed components....thin, rather stale finish. I’ve yet to be impressed by this brewery, though this sample is drinkable enough.
