I had this at the Oggis in Mission Viejo. My friend and I shared a pitcher of this beer over some pizza.
I was impressed with this medium bodied stout. It can't compete with the higher quality micro stouts; however, for a pizza brewpub it was definitely a good beer.
The pour was dark in color with a brownish head. The aroma has a mild roasted malt smell. I could definitely taste the roasted malt flavor with hints of chocolate and coffee.
This dry stout was easy to drink and enjoyable with our pizza. If you find yourself at an Oggis, try the Black Magic Stout. Or better yet, try their sampler, so you can find your favorite.

This stout pours with a dark brown to black body topped by a thin, brown head with little lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet, roasty and malty with subtle coffee notes and a hint of licorice. The flavor is slightly sweet and malty yet bitter with a nice roastiness, a little chocolate and coffee and a touch of anise. Full bodied, smooth and slightly tingly from the carbonation.

Black pour with coffee taste that was both rich and bitter, better than a Starbucks Espresso.

I couldn't really tell this apart from Guinness. It tasted like a watery coffee, with a little extra chocolate thrown in. Maybe I went in with high expectations, but I was let down.

black color of course, with a nice chocolate milk colored head that lasted on one but died early on the other 2. Had a decent coffee aroma to it some smoke and chocolates appear also. I thought it would suck, but it was actually fairly decent. I dug it.

Draft. Black and opaque )even in a small taster glass) with tan head and fair lacing. Aroma is coffee, bitter chocolate and burnt toast. Flavor is also coffee, and bakers chocolate with a lingering bitter finish. Full body and light carbonation.

Dark black color. Aroma is mild malts, chocolate and coffee. A medium bodied stout. Malts are roasted, chocolate and coffee. A middle of the road stout. Nice, but not very interesting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

UPDATED: JAN 19, 2003 Poured on tap at Oggi"s in Oceanside. Dark brown, somewhat ruby red appearance in the light, minimal slightly creamy head, but it disappeared quite quickly. Aroma is very weak with hints of roasted barley, some coffee and alcohol, but nothing else in particular that caught my eye. The taste was that of a typical stout, more like a dry stout however...good malty base, followed by a coffee and roast finish..fairly dry finish, good use of malts, very minimal carbonation but a decent full bodied feel. Nothing spectacular in terms of a new taste or anything, but worth a stop in to try. Nothing like a little coffee to get the taste buds going.

UPDATED: FEB 23, 2003 Envision a cheese slicer slicing a thin piece of chocolate and filling that slab of cocoa with cocoa chips, rolling it up, and sparking that doobie like a joint of super dank kind bud...that is the equivilent of the aroma...flavor was smokey at first settling to a coffee like presence and a roasty toasty and smokey high...sourness krept about in the finish, garbagey but not offensive...otherwise a strong contender
