COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
GOLD METAL 2000 Great American Beer Festival! This light refreshing Cream Ale is brewed for those who enjoy a clean, crisp beer. It uses small amounts of Vienna malt to add body and flavor while preserving the light color. Sterling hops provides just a hint of spice in the aroma. Is now sold in Petco Park, Qualcomm Stadium, and the Del Mar Race Track in plastic bottles.

Draft pour at the Encinitas Oggi’s on 8th May 2016. Came in a frosted glass with ice floating in the freezing beer, what the hell is all that about. I wanted to try all the beers they had on tap, but no flights, so I had three 16oz beers before leaving. Too cold to have any aroma, too cold to have any taste, looked OK if you like icebergs in your beer. Scored as objectively as I could.

Draught at Oggi’s in Vista, California. Clear pale golden beer with a small head. Thin malty aroma, bready, some grass. Thin malty caramel flavor, some citrus and grass. Very boring.

Pours a light yellow color with a grain aroma. Taste is clean, golden malt flavor. No aftertaste, typical blonde ale with no distinct flavor qualities.

Draft. Pours gold with a white head. Grainy malty base, some sweetness, straw, and a relatively clean finish. A middle-of-the-road brewpub Cream Ale.

From Notes: On Tap: Golden Yellow with white head. Smell of corn, fruit, grain. Taste is of fruit, and grain with malt and a slight bitterness.

On tap at the brewpub. It poured a clear pale golden color with a white head. The aroma was of earth, toasted malts with a hint of mild hops. The taste was malty, sweet with some earthy grainy notes and a touch of mild coriander and yeast. Decent.

nothing to take notice of, but not horrible either. i can usually take or leave this style, and this is no exception, but i guess it’s kinda sorta fairly well done and refreshing-ish for the style."

Tap. Pours clear pale yellow, small white head, nice lacing. Aroma is faint hay and honey. Flavor is about the same, mild and inoffensive. Light sweet, light grassy bitter. Light body.

I didn’t have high hopes for Oggi’s but being the closest location to the hotel and having been to Stone World Bistro twice I wanted to do something different. This was good enough that the sample was not hard to finish. However much like the rest of the pours that night it was ultimately a forgettable run of the mill release.

Aroma / Appearance - A golden base retained only a trace of head by the time it got to the table. Light lemons and sweetness provide some character. Overall though it is a low key cream ale that fits in well with the style - forgettable, light, and simple.

Flavor / Palate - Light lemons and custard provide a burst of flavor before this recedes like the outgoing tide. A clean texture is nicely paired with a drinkable body. Ultimately though, like most cream ales, it lacks anything to make it distinctive. If you have to pick just four samples pass on this one.

Somewhat sweet with a lazy, inert flavor profile. It’s empirically diaphanous and sports a white, lacy head. This is a good chugging beer, but if you’re going to break out your leather journal while conducting tasting notes, you’re going to be disappointed (as I am here).
