doubleo (842), San Diego, California, USA Apr 21, 2008 On-tap at Oggi’s Del Mar. Pours brown red with a crispy, large bubble, offwhite head. Smells slightly crisp malty with some caramel as well. Tastes about the same. Malty, caramelly sweet and a bit crisp. Slightly watery body and it could use a bit more carbonation.
AgentSteve (861), SF Bay Area, California, USA Oct 12, 2008 Pours a very attractive deep garnet with some brown influence. The nose is completely butterscotch. The flavor is very buttery. Smooth mouthfeel. ucusty (1215), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 27, 2008 Copper pour with fluffy tan head. Fantastic aroma of malts, caramel and lightly sweet. Thin bodied. A little sweet in the initial taste then bursting with malt flavor. Had a smooth and mellow finish, very drinkable. rustychiles (480), Mesa, Arizona, USA Aug 20, 2008 Bomber
Pours a reddish brown with a barely there soapy off white to tannish head. Aroma of caramel, malt and some earthy fragrances. Flavor is caramel, nuts, malt, earthy with a slick undercarbonated mouthfeel and a bitter finish. Decent brew, but seemed a bit thin in flavor as well as consistency. SDalkoholic (1036), Chula Vista, California, USA Jul 26, 2008 Bottle from an unknown store off Adams ave. Pours as a brownish red color and forms a fizzy short lived head. Aroma is a mixture of toffee and nutty scents. The flavor is similar and is a sweet caramel malt with a background of nuts and toffee. This is nothing special and almost is to plain and boring for me to even type anything else. bluemeow76 (685), Lewis Center, Ohio, USA Jun 27, 2008 I’m a tough customer when it comes to Scottish ales b/c Barley’s MacLenny’s Scottish is my go-to beer when hanging out at our local beer stomping ground. So this "scottish" was a dissapointment. It was malty with carmel hints, but the flavor just wasn’t there. It felt almost overly carbonated for the style and the taste was very thin.
