3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
On Tap (Scottsdale location): A fluffy off white head with a nice red-brown amber/mahogany color. Smels of matls, hops, pine, wheat, citrus bread, and biscuts. The beer was served a little too cold, but some nice malty flavors as well as some pine which almost gave it a dry almost smokey palate.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Brewed & sampled on tap at Oggi’s Scottsdale, AZ
This beer is brilliantly clear and is a bright, deep red color. It is topped by a wispy, island forming, though mostly a ring around the glass, tan colored head. There is a sweetish, fruity aroma here, which has a fair amount of hops which serve to amplify the fruit note. There are some notes of grapefruit-like citrus and a touch of spiciness. Overall the aroma is on the light side, but is enjoyable and a nice surprise from a beer titled Amber.
The beer is lightly sweet up front, but quickly is dried out by some hop notes. The hops have a striking, herbal piney note to them, some grapefruit-like citrus notes, plus something in the finish that is almost harsh, but definitely a bit raw. This is interesting, I like this beer despite the harsh notes; this is sort of like a mini double IPA. I say that because of the raw hop character, the hop notes are solid and ample, but, of course, they are way muted when directly compared to a double IPA. This seems to capture the raw, aggressive hoppy essence of a super hopped beer, but in a much smaller (all around), easier drinking package. Very well balanced, but towards the hop end of course.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft: Dark amber color, nose if light caramel and dusty cat piss, plum or maybe that’s the earthy hops. The flavor is decently hopped with piney notes and a well rounded malty body. Long tail, easy drinking but needs something else.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Draft at Santee Oggi’s. Not a huge amber fan. I guess this was a pretty typical one. Not a lot to talk about. Actually pretty watered down. Decent hop profile though. Average.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
[At GABF 2004] A clear copper colored beer with a fine beige head. The aroam is slightly hoppy - nothing else to notice. The flavor is very hoppy and quite flowery, but also contains notes of malt and caramel. The end is nicely bitter.

2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Sampled at Mission Valley location (draught)...Floral aroma with perfumey notes. Mild sweetness. Mildly hazy copper/amber color with an off-white head. ESB? WTF? There are no hops or bitterness in this at all. Sweet perfumey malts dominate. Watery, thin, and just not enjoyable.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Mild in flavor for the style. But smooth and easy to drink nonetheless. Not bad but nothing special either.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Amber in color. I noticed a sweet citrus aroma and flavor which was good. Sweetness controled the flavor of this beer I thought. Left some lacing on the glass.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Rich amber pour. A malty nose is dominant, light bitter hops linger in the background. Sweet malts, some caramel, smooth bitter finish. Not a lot to pick up on, but nothing offensive either.
