Tap. Pours clear amber, small beige creamy head, great lacing. Aroma is caramel and cardboard. Flavor is medium sweet, light bitter, caramel, bready. Better than it smells. Medium body.

On tap at brewpub
Of all the beers that were brewed to some style this may have come the closest to being true to itself. A lightweight memorable bitter would fit in well with the tons of average casks at small pubs dotting the English countryside.

Aroma / Appearance - A rich caramel base is the color of melted chocolate bars. Calm malt and earthy hops float in the air like a light mist. Iced tea and semisweet chocolate provide some depth but overall this is a simple draft.

Flavor / Palate - Almonds, walnuts, and iced tea refresh the palate. The transition is mildly bitter and soon fades in the back of the throat. A decent amber / ESB is fairly mundane and something to pass the time over lunch.

On tap @ Eastlake location: I took very little notes about this beer and that’s a sign to me that it wasn’t that important. Appearance was a dense mahogany color that looked as though it did have some artificial coloring and was able to create a nice frothy head. The flavor and aroma both seemed to have more hops present then malts, but the flavor was nicely balanced and seemed to stand out to me as a decent amber ale.

I didn’t think this was that great so I ordered some of the Double up XX II PA in it to make it better.

Enjoyed on tap as part of a sampler at Oggi’s in Garden Grove, CA. Appearance is gold with rich white head that laces to the glass. Aroma is light in both malts and hops, a bit of hay as well. Taste is decent, becomes more flavorful as it warms up, Amarillo hops shine, backed with bready malts. It didn’t taste good at first, growing on me a bit.

Pours deep amber with nice malt and toffee notes. These same notes show even deeper during the mouthfeel. Nice smooth finish.

A: The beer pours the expected amber color with a finger of off-white head. S: Starts off with a nice malty base of bread, toast, and toffee. A decent sweetness with some hops to balance it out. Not super pungent, but good citrus aromas and a hint of pine. T: Moderately sweet with nice toffee, caramel, and toasted bread malt flavors. Hints of pine bitterness with some good citrus flavors, particularly orange and grapefruit. M: Medium in body with a medium level of carbonation. O: Of the house beers, this was one of the better options. Not great, but at least palatable.

tap at apple valley location-pours copper hue with a small off-white head. nose of earthy hops and sweet malts *(caramel). flavros are balanced well with earthy/piney hops and caramel malts. This is one of the better amber ales i have had in a while. however, its pretty messed up when a brewers amber ale is better than their APA and IPA-agree? nonetheless a decent amber ale with a leafy hop finish and it reminds me of full sail amber when its fresh. solid for this style!
