COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
SILVER METAL 2000 Great American Beer Festival! Big, bold hop flavors define this wonderful India Pale Ale. This is a stronger, hoppier version of a regular pale ale. Loads of Columbus, Cascade, Willamette and Centennial hops are used in this beer that would please any hop-head!

Draft at brewpub. Pours a hazy straw leaning gold. A nice lemon and orange hop flavors at first with some peppery accents. Syrupness builds a little then lets off to a more light fruit juice flavor. Mouth is nicely bitter and fairly dry for and IPA. Decent IPA.

Bomber - pours a lightly hazy gold, with a small, soapy lace - aroma of herbal hops and buttered toast - oily mouthfeel, moderate carbonation - flavor of astringent hop bitterness, honey sweetness, fairly noticeable diacetyl - the hops get even more astringent in the finish - it takes a lot of effort to fuck up an IPA, but by God, they’ve done it (okay, maybe "fuck up" is strong, since I’m still gonna drink this whole damn bomber) - disappointing considering the other Left Coast/Oggis brews I’ve had have been quite solid - I now hold out no hope for the bottle of Tripel I also bought today.

Pours a light gold with a few floatie. Aroma of citrus and pine hops, a bit of malt. Nicely balanced, easy drinking ipa.

Draft at Garden Grove location; Nose of citrus hops. Clear gold with a medium white head. Flavor is light bitterness. OK but not that hoppy!

Pours a golden yellow with good head and lacing. Taste is mild for an IPA, hoppy just as advertised. A drinkable IPA but nothing special of note.

22 oz bottle purchased at Chris’ Liquors in San Diego, California. Pour is hazed golden amber with a one inch white head that falls pretty fast. A couple of chunkies floating around. Aroma is initially quite skunky, but that dissipates pretty fast. Behind that is some chemical cardboard, oxidation. Taste is pretty oxidized right away, with vegetal taste and strong citrus orange and grapefruit hop bitterness behind the cardboard. Very grapefruit in character, some light straw malt way in the background. Finish is earthy, with persistent black pepper spiciness. Palate is thin to medium, light carbonation - a little dead tasting. I am certain this bottle was less than 100%.

Probably my favorite one of the trip to Oggis Santa Clarita. Big pine/citrus aroma and a lovely malt backbone. Not over the top heavy, but just very smooth and drinkable.

On tap at the brewpub in Vista. Pours a hazy, bright orange body with a thin, white, quickly dissipating head that leaves absolutely no lacing. I credit this to the frosted glass they served me...ugh. Aroma of sweet citrus, but a little muted. Flavor is similar with a nice floral hop bite. A bit spicy and a lot of caramel. A moderate earthy linger with a dry finish. Palate is medium bodied and very sessionable. Overall, not a bad tasting IPA once the frosted glass affect went away, but it seemed to really affect the appearance and aroma. Oh well, I guess I have to rate based off of what I was served...

22oz. bomber with thanks to BOLTZ7555 for one of the many great bonuses he sent! Pours a bright, slightly hazy golden yellow with a persistent large white head. Aroma is floral, citrus, and light spice and caramel. Flavor is more floral, citrus and a lingering spicy finish. Not bad stuff, thanks again Jason!

Bottle Pours a cloudy light gold with a bubbly white head. The head leaves quickly. Laces fairly well. Has an aroma of hops, floral, and some fruits. Has a light carbonation. The flavor is good with a bitter hop shot at first followed by a smooth malty finish. Has a medium body. Has a watery to oily texture. A good finish with an interesting aftertaste. This is a little off center but it is good. A mix of ipa and belgain. A good change of pace.
