4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Vintage 2010. Perfekcyjne Barley Wine w angielskim stylu.

2.5 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Ahhhhh, this is overwhelmingly sweet. The aroma is of marmite, perhaps some dark fruit and soy sauce. Murky brown beer, similar to a quad. Taste of toffee, perhaps a little brown sugar. Doesnít bite like a Iíd expect from a 12.9% but itís unbalanced. There is no real complexity to it.
Itís literally like having marmite on unbuttered bread with loads of brown sugar.
I was not fond of this, lacked complexity and the only selling point is the strength.

UPDATED: NOV 21, 2013 Bottle from Metro Wines, Syston, Leics. Flat, treacle colour. Burnished toffee and a whole host of sweet, malty flavours which Foxo and Scopey correctly identify below. Really smooth and powerful. Niiiiice. Super bargain.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Cask during the Mikkeller Tap Takeover at King William IV - London. Pours clear, amber-russet with a light, white film cap. Deep, well aged fruits on the nose, some brown sugar, heavy figs and dates. Big sweet flavor with mellow wood, brown sugar, rich bread, dark cherries, massive dates, figs, hints of chocolate. Full bodied with soft, fine carbonation. Warming finish without being hot (impressive given the ABV) with moderate toffee and tons more dates and figs. Very decadent and dangerously drinkable. Well done.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle from beersofeurope.co.uk at least a year ago but given the enormous ABV Iím only just plucking up the courage to tackle this. Very dark brown, headless, bottle conditioned. Really delicious aroma of sweet treacle and Marmite, apple, marzipan and orange. Taste is strongly fruit cake mix and suet pudding - thick, sickly and Iím half expecting to find sultanas floating in it. This is very sweet but surprisingly drinkable. Lacks balance but very good.

Bottle: Served in a taster: 2010 Vintage:
Some bubbles on top of a dark orange to amber colored beer.
Aroma of manure, raisin, cream, barley malts, hint of liquorice (wood), some caramel, liquor and some cocos.
Flavours of barley malts, nuts, cream, light spicy, some leaves, hay, hint of roosvicee, bitters, some liquorice wood, strange bitters, nuts and something meat ish.
Aftertaste is a mix of bitters, barley malt, hay, toast, cream and some liquorice wood bitter tones.
Low carbo, soft silky mouthfeel, full body and an oily texture.
Strange beer, the aroma is quite appealing though the flavour is a bit strange.
