Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

Super smooth and very little roasted taste or bitterness- almost not even a beer! Very enjoyable, but lack of complexity

Dark brown with a red hue. The aroma has notes of coffee and licorice. It’s a nice stout with a lot of flavour and personality. It has bite and yet it’s smooth and mellow, and the finish is nice and dry. I’m not sure I can find the port wine, but I do get notes of licorice, smoke and briefly also bitter chocolate.

Bottle: Very deep ruby-amber coloured, mid-sized, stable creamy tanned head, dry roasted malt, dark malt and a subtle fruitiness in the nose; solid dry bitter flavour, light to medium bodied; dry, light bitter, roastmalty and coffeeish finish. A goody, well balanced.......

This years winner of bottle-conditioned beers of Britain. 500ml bottle bought at Utobeer, London in Feb.07. Huge frothy, light brown head with lots of bubbles, good retention and great glass-lacing. Almost jet-black with a ruby tint. Inviting aroma of caramel malts. Blended flavours of slightly roasted grain, earth, dark malts and coffee offset by fruity hints. Rounded bitterness in the aftertaste. Medium bodied. A lovely stout (28.12.2007).

Delicious meat loaf in a bed of sweet potatoes. Definitely a busy nose. Thick and stiff colour. Tar at its finest. Head was not worthy of such a stout, much too airy and bubbly. Dark cocao and guateamala coffee beans stuck in the middle of a hearty meat & potatoes dinner all while supported by the mildest covering of port. What a complex number! - Not to be outdone by the curious hint of lemon tart on the finish. Tremendous stuff.

Pours blackish-purple. Coffee with notes of plum. One of the nicest head I’ve seen yet. Thick, lasting, and big foam bubbles. Taste is first of the port, then the stout, then a bitter finish of hops. Great with a pot roast!!

Bottled. Pours dark brown, with a nice tan head. Nose is vinous and sour. Flavor is roasty, with notes of port wine. Finished with a nice hop bitterness.

Dark black with hint of red. Small toffee coloured head. Mild sweet flavour with not much port.
