Palidor19 (1750), Brandon, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2007 like a morning cup of mild coffee. its got a thin taste with a mild toastyness. the malts seem to work pretty well. The rest works pretty well nick76 (2634), Tampa, Florida, USA Oct 26, 2007 The aroma has coffee, cream, roasted malt, and yeast. The appearance is ruby brown with a nice tan head. The flavor is like the aroma and quite bitter. The palate is thin. Overall it’s good but not great. tomer (365), Rishon Le Zion, Israel Oct 20, 2007 0.5L bottle. Murky dark brown colour. Some roasted malt aroma. Flavour is suprisingly quite dry with some coffee notes. Carbonation is a bit to strong. Finish is so dry that it drys your throat.
I was desparetly trying to find what is the added value of the ruby port to this stout, but unfortunatly could not find anything . A huge dissapointement, just like England losing the rugby world cup. DSG (1501), Tel Aviv, Israel Oct 13, 2007 Bottle. Black color with a medium, slowly-siminishing, light-brown head. Roasty nose with some vinous notes, and a bit of yeast. Flavor is quite sweet and malty, with some nice roastiness (and some roasty bitterness), some smoke, notes of coffee, a bit of hops, and a bit of sourness in the finish. Medium-bodied. A decent stout. ChrisJ (100), Warrenton, Virginia, USA Oct 12, 2007 Bottle. Labeled Ruby Stout. Pours in a dark brown, but when you hold it up to the light you can really see the brilliant ruby red. I got a huge 3 finger creamy tan head that sat up on my glass like frosting. Malty aroma, very roasty, earthy. Flavor is roasted malts and some dark chocolate. The nose is a little sweet but actually milder than I expected. The finish has some mild notes of the port but I honestly had trouble picking them up at first. Body is medium to full with noticeable carbonation. Nice dkoonce (880), People’s Republic of Athens, Ohio, USA Oct 11, 2007 Labeled Ruby Stout. Dark brown, with a fizzy loose brown head. This beer looks exactly like a root beer. Smells of red wine and not much else. A bit sweet, no hops noted and a slight red wine flavor. Not much else at all. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Oct 7, 2007 500. Pours black with a towering, rocky, sudsy tan head. Surprisingly absent nose--just not picking up much of anything other than a whiff of chalky chocolate. Ah, wait: some red wine grapes start peeking through as it warms. Never mind about the absent nose. Medium body with understated carb on the attack. Smoke-forward flavors right away. Beef jerky sizzling with carb on the tongue for a mid-palate, falling into a wash of ascetic red wine pucker for a finish. "Often immitated never equaled," eh? I suppose I won’t try to argue with that bit of sloganeering. oh6gdx (8795), Vasa, Finland Oct 1, 2007 Bottled@SBWF2007. Deep amber colour, mediumsized creamy head. Aroma is roasted malts, some slight hops, spices and burnt wood. Flavour is roasted malts, some slight hops, coffee and some sourness.
