This beer looks exactly like a root beer. Smells of red wine and not much else. A bit sweet, no hops noted and a slight red wine flavor. Not much else at all. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 7, 2007 500. Pours black with a towering, rocky, sudsy tan head. Surprisingly absent nose--just not picking up much of anything other than a whiff of chalky chocolate. Ah, wait: some red wine grapes start peeking through as it warms. Never mind about the absent nose. Medium body with understated carb on the attack. Smoke-forward flavors right away. Beef jerky sizzling with carb on the tongue for a mid-palate, falling into a wash of ascetic red wine pucker for a finish. "Often immitated never equaled," eh? I suppose I won’t try to argue with that bit of sloganeering. oh6gdx (8838), Vasa, Finland

Rich dark - very dark - brown. Hints toward dark malt in the aroma, and they are actualised in the taste. Slight sourness in the taste, maybe a duff barrel. YK23 (269), Haifa, Israel

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 17, 2007 A very deep amber color with a foamy head that dissaoears quick. Smells like alcohol and coffee. The taste is somewhat dry malts and a lttle bit on the bitter side. As it warmed I could taste a hint of wood. Oily finish. thewolf (5725), Kolding, Denmark
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 10, 2007 Cask @ OL i Aarhus. Pours a deep red - almost black. No head at all. Aroma is slightly smoky, some coffe and chocolate. Very low carbonation and thus, oily mouthfeel. Flavours are limited at first, and only hit me properly in the aftertaste. Some smoke, chocolate, but mostly coffee. Okay, but nothing spectacular. yespr (12020), Copenhagen O, Denmark
