Nicely made. pintbypint (1002), Edmonton, Alberta, Canada Jun 30, 2007 500ml brown bottle. Pours deep brown with plum coloured highlights. Large head, fluffy yet creamy, tan colour. Aroma has a bit of dark berry fruit in it (cherry maybe currants) , some dark malt. Flavour is malty with some dark chocolate, quite dry and roasty, late port wine notes. Finishes dry and roasty, some bitterness from roasted malts. Medium body with a tight fine carbonation. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA Jun 27, 2007 Pours pretty much black with huge light tan head that billowed over the rim. Looks like a dessert. Big carbonation also. Aroma is raw malts, nuts, meat, light roasted coffee. Flavor is roasted nutty malts and hints of cocoa, smoke, and coffee. Pretty mild with a thin body. Finish is slightly dry and bitter. jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 24, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Tuqueboy. Black body with a creamy tan head that fades leaving some nice lacing on the glass (3+). Very dry roasty aroma, toasty malt, with a hint of raisin or mincemeat pie. Flavour is similarly quite dry and bitter, with the roast character not as strong as in the aroma, yet still quite dominant. Light sweet malt with a very brief glimpse of toffee. (6+). Palate is far too thin for my liking for a stout, but does seem to suit the beer nonetheless. downender (2542), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England Jun 14, 2007 Cask-conditioned at the Bag O’Nails, Bristol 14/6/07. Near black with a slight, tan head. Aroma was of dark chocolate, with prunes and roasted notes. Flavours of bitter chocolate with a touch of warming alcohol on the finish. Beats Guinness hands down. badlizard (2326), Berkeley, California, USA Jun 13, 2007 500 mL bottle. Dark brown with a thin creamy tan head. Aroma of chocolate and port. Smooth light bodied palate. Taste of chocolate, port, slightly fruity with a clean smooth finish. TipsyMcStager (902), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Jun 12, 2007 pours a dark brown with thin head. Standard stout lineup - coffee, chocolate and some bitterness. I found it a little thin body wise. presario (2955), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 27, 2007 Best before Jan 24, 2008. Thick brown head sinks into a lump that is rather mold-like in appearance. Aroma seems a little subdued. I expected a something more. Flavour is interesting.
