Almost black with a reddish tinge, and a light coffee head; chocolate malt aroma with perhaps a hint of port; full and chewy flavour, slightly tart, developing an intense coffee body, again with just a hint of port; leading to a burnt malt chocolate finish. Quite complex. BREWMUSKCLES (1070), New Jersey, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 7, 2007 bubble gum and soy sauce aroma with a brownish head on this inerestingly different imbibe. sweetish and dry malt bitterness that balances well and is roasty. carbonation is small and a bit fierce. i sense gravymaster. anyway the port does come thru and this an unconventional stout in many ways. it should be expected for the higher price. i love chocolate and coffee and i can honestly say i detect none of either. but a slight alcohol burn....odd! not creamy at all and perhaps a touch slippery behind a fine curtain of tight carbonation. and no it is not slippery. mabel (2590), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Large head, fluffy yet creamy, tan colour. Aroma has a bit of dark berry fruit in it (cherry maybe currants) , some dark malt. Flavour is malty with some dark chocolate, quite dry and roasty, late port wine notes. Finishes dry and roasty, some bitterness from roasted malts. Medium body with a tight fine carbonation. buckybeer (666), Eau Claire, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 27, 2007 Pours pretty much black with huge light tan head that billowed over the rim. Looks like a dessert. Big carbonation also. Aroma is raw malts, nuts, meat, light roasted coffee. Flavor is roasted nutty malts and hints of cocoa, smoke, and coffee. Pretty mild with a thin body. Finish is slightly dry and bitter. jerc (3885), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 24, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Tuqueboy. Black body with a creamy tan head that fades leaving some nice lacing on the glass (3+). Very dry roasty aroma, toasty malt, with a hint of raisin or mincemeat pie. Flavour is similarly quite dry and bitter, with the roast character not as strong as in the aroma, yet still quite dominant. Light sweet malt with a very brief glimpse of toffee. (6+). Palate is far too thin for my liking for a stout, but does seem to suit the beer nonetheless. downender (2578), Bristol, Gloucestershire, England
