Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

Pours a very dark murky brown color, almost black and impenetrable. Head is tan, rather big and frothy. It shows good retention and leaves a stable film. Intense and fantastic malty aroma. It shows notes of Port Wine, oak, figs, prunes, coffee roastiness, licorice and rye bread. Very enticing and solid. Flavor is bittersweet, very roasty, starting with sweet-ish notes of truffles, port wine, dark german rye bread, toasted cereal grains, strong coffee and some touches of raisins, wood and licorice. Nice! Medium body and carbonation. Smooth mouthfeel, juicy texture. The finish is very dry leaving a roasted and long aftertaste. A great stout.

Very dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is metallic and not very welcoming. No, I don’t pick up the port. After that things begin to improve. Sweet, smooth, ashy malt, a little dark chocolate and a satisfying bitter finish are the main ingredients. A winter warmer, so why am I drinking it on a fresh English May morning?

Bottle. Poured black color with a large frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate roasted sweet coffee aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture. Medium roasted balanced flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Solid drinkable complex beer.

black in colour, not the least opaque, pours very lively with a long lasting deep white head, didn’t realise until i read the bottle notes it has live yeast added and is bottle conditioned. serious malts with coffee, very smooth. finished well, dryness at the end

Deep black with a firm head, little roast on the nose, with a rich malt and full mouth feel and little stout bitterness in linger.

Pours dark reddish brown. Aroma is of coffee and roasted notes. Flavor is vinous and sweet, with a very complex malt profile, but only slight hop presence. Slightly less complex than the average stout, but very tasty nonetheless.

Dark ruddy highlighted brew with a great creamy head. Port is very apparent in the aroma, along with caramel and pipe tobacco. The flavor doesn’t translate as well as I had hoped, with a bad end to it reminiscent of a flat bad diet cherry cola. As it warms it has its moments though.
