Nose has chocolate, vine fruits, slight lambic notes, body is juicy yet adds lots of bitter roastiness. douglas88 (1579), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Pours a dark black color with ruby hues when exposed with light and a thick beige head. A rich roasted aroma, something fruity and spicy as well. A rich flavor of roasted malts, a spicy hot mix that must be port, some fruit and dryer elements. Very nice and rich. Chocolates as well. Again, I’m a sucker for a good English Stout. Nice. saxo (3572), Højbjerg, Aarhus, Denmark

Its an ok gimick beer but the port texture is so subtle you need a magnifying glass to see it. Just roasted bitterness, chocolate and coffee iz what came through to my palate. dnas2 (648), Yelverton, Devon., Devon, England

Nearly black with a red tinge. Short head. Lots of winter berries in the scent. Well balanced. Coffee is about the only thing in the mouth but delicate enough not to be too rich. Some dryness. Quite nice. Bejaaamin (110), London, Ontario, Canada
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 30, 2009 Deep dark brown, highlights of purple, thin head. Malty nose, chocolate, dark roast coffee, hazelnuts, candy, slightly spicy. went down as smooth as silk, can definetely tell the port presence, sweet spices, port was very predominant in the finish. Must get more... BillKismet (1903), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jul 20, 2009 Highly carbonated black walnut body with a chocolate float top. Medium and deep roasted barley , chocolate wispis, hop bitterness, chocolate port, and nuts all greet the nose in waxing and waning motions. Full bodied at the start, though the body starts to thin toward the end of the glass. Well-stated depth of malts, medium and deep roasted barley and chocolate malt as well. Port is scarcely, if at all, present. Nonetheless, impressive complexity. A trace of tinniness and, perhaps, oxidation on the finish. Solid overall, but no woldbeater. | 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 17, 2009 Poured a clear dark brown with an explosive foamy tan head that just wouldn’t stop, and the resulting lacing was simply fantastic; amongst the best I’ve ever seen. The aroma was coffee, chocolate and malt in that order. Taste was not much different although the port wine didn’t become evident until the latter half of the glass.
