Doppelganger (1353), Dry County, Arkansas, USA Jul 24, 2006 Bottle. Dark brown. Even with a pretty aggressive pour, just a wisp of light head. The aroma feels very faint. What’s there is nice--a pleasant creamy toffee, a touch of espresso. It just could really use some more. Strikingly thin palate. Weak coffee flavor and a little chalky sweetness. Overall just oddly weak. If I hadn’t poured this myself, I would have sworn someone watered it down. Creamy off-white fully lasting head. Dark red-amber colour. Powerfull malty roasted aroma. Too strong coffeenotes. Average finish. Watery palate.

Very dry woody flavor. Long licoricefinish. Great stuff. yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Jul 7, 2006 Tasted 30/06/2006. 500ml, bottle-conditioned, from Island Bay New World.
Black, ruby hints, with a light tan head. Plenty of yeast knocking about in the glass, and the bottom of the bottle. Big plummy nose, quite stony almond hints also, port later. Very dry in the mouth, no malt sweetness, with loads of roast barley astringency. More almond. No noticeable hop profile. A touch lightweight in feel, due to the prickly carbonation. Some plummy notes linger. Lacked balance and freshness to really get me going. M0RHI (1067), Luxembourg, Luxembourg Jun 26, 2006 Updated: Jun 27, 2006Malty, dark chocolate aroma. Nice dark appearance, ruby with a light tan head. Flavour is initially of mouthwash! Then creamy malt, chocolate, alcohol, oak. Palate is oaky, bitter, more alcohol here. Needs more port! Gusler (2655), Tucson, Arizona, USA Jun 25, 2006 The beer pours from 500ml brown body a soot black with a tinge of ruby, the head forms a light chocolate brown semi-creamy crown to top the great body, as it vanishes, the resultant lace forms a thick obscuring skirt to surround the glass. Nose has a bittersweet chocolate aroma, back up by the sweet port, fresh and clean, start is sweet with a delightful grain presence, and the top is rich and full to the palate. Finish has a perfect acidity, the hops supported by the port, which gives you a nice warming sensation, dry and lingering aftertaste, after sampling I went out and got a couple more of this most delightful bottle conditioned beer. Nejhleader (924), Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 10, 2006 has a sweet fruity aroma with a bit of caramel mixed in also maybe some chocolate to the aroma. I had a cold so this may be off. dark colour with a tan head. body is a bit thin. strong toffee/ roasted taste maybe with a hint of chocolate. bitter and dry aftertaste. Nothing all to special. Dedollewaitor (3625), Odense, Denmark Jun 10, 2006 Black with browny white head. Aroma of hops, chocolate and especielly coffee. The texture is very soft, unfortunatly its very thin as well. Aftertaste is a bit bitter and very short! (Typical Brithish I feel like saying) Regular brew! Furseth (1328), Kungälv, Sweden May 24, 2006 Bottle at 4áns ölkällare in Kungälv.
Dark red colour, with a nice creamy foam. Medium body, with a typical malty bitter Aroma. Dry stout with a medium bitter finish. Medium body.
