Very dry body with notes of smoked, hard roasted malts. Bitter finish. But I’m not really sure I detect the added Ferreira Port. 100402 DuffMan (2745), the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, Canada

Port and stout I think were meant to go to bed together. This beer looks fantastic-- deep ruby brown with a crazy beige head that collapses into funky shapes. Terrific nose of black cherries, smoky wood, and coffee. Rich flavours of darkly roasted malt, charred cedar, ash, and sweet plummy port. Rather thin in the body, but full of flavour and absolutely delicious. oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Charred roast with earthy hop aromas. Well balanced if slightly thin with a soft spicy fruit finish which may or may not be attributable to the port. blankboy (3201), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a dark ruby-brown with a large creamy light-brown head. Very mild aroma of smoke, roasted malt and port. Flavour’s also very mild and follows the aroma -- it’s also a tad harsh and not very tasty. Mediocre at best. Siroy (220), Montreal, Quebec, Canada

Taste with the guys from Institut de la Bière.
Pours a rich brown/black. Mild roasted barley malt. Sherry nose. I’d say it’s in-between a porter and a stout, closer to porter, therefore the name.
A boring stout, but a ok porter. Alcohol hits at first followed by a rich tawny taste but be ready for a abrupt metallic/hop finish.

Poured deep reddish-brown with a huge light brown head. Dry roast malt, roasted nuts, hops, a little licorice and prunes, touch of grain and cream, very smoky on warming. Taste is pretty light, the port is there but muted - tastes smoky and roast malt, very bitter, port balances it nicely. Mouthfeel is slightly watery for a stout, almost salty. Nice aroma, pitiful taste. Otje (668), Leiden, Netherlands
