Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

Black/dark brown, ruby hues-bubbly off white head-small bits of yeast floating in suspended animation-looks like a still photo of a beer. Aroma-roasty, burnt chocoffee, malt, port, touch of yeast. Same flavor with nice hints of port in finish and aftertaste. Full, creamy body with the right amount of carbonation. Very good.

Bottle. Pours a rich brown/black. Aroma is eerily reminiscent of a Belgian white, with sharp hints of citrus and yeast. A slight coriander seems to be lingering in the back of the nose. Head is beautiful and full and it provides intricate lacing around the glass. Smokey flavor, with a dry malt taste and hollow hops. In fact, this beer could be accused of being a smoked beer. I’m liking this beer even though it doesn’t taste as advertised. Palate is a tad watery, but one hardly notices since the flavors are the main focus here. Grab one if you can..

I don’t get much aroma here. Some very mild roasted barley malt is all. Deep black with a VERY lively tan head. Mildly roasty, but the intensity is very low. Almost no flavor here. Very dissapointed with this. I bought this and a stout called Kinmount Willie at the same time. I figured this would shine and the Willie would be mediocre, but it was the exact opposite.

Bottled. Incredible sherry aroma, lots of oak, vanilla. Leather, chocolate, chewing tobacco and peat. Palate dings for excessive fizziness and then going watery - needs more mouth. Started spectacularly, finished moderately. Still very good.

Bouteiile-Odeur de de brûlé sucré, mousse brunâtre abondante, liqueur noir opaque avec des résidus dans le fond, goût de malte brûlé, un peu amer mais sec en bouche, doux arrière-goût--Bottle- Sweety roasted smell, strong brown head, dark black liquid with particules floating in it, roatsed malt, a bit bitter but dry in the mouth, sweet after taste.

Kind of disappointing. Some malt in the aroma. There was a vinous quality to the taste, but it was overwhelmed by a powerful flavor of ok, even though this was from a bottle. Dry finish. Black, with a thick but short lived head.
