Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

500 ml botle - Habersham Beverage Warehouse, Savannah, Ga. Pours a dark ruby red fading to black with a frothy mocha colored head. Slight cocoa aroma, with some wine in the background. Flavor hints at greatness at first blush with bits of port and chocolate but mellows out quickly, slighlty earthy. Some nuttiness in there as well. Mouthfeel is much thinner than I like in my stouts and a bit chalky. Still a decent stout though.

Smells like cherries, rum and red wine all together - just great. For a "ruby" stout, I thought the color would be redder. Light, fluffy head - unusual for a stout. Fairly heavy; enough that one at a time is plenty. Dry finish is interesting but really one of the downsides to this beer.

Dark brown with a bubbly, beige long-lasting head. Aromas of roasted malts and red fruit. First taste is a burnt, roasted character that slowly reveals a mild chocolate quality. Slight winey character is also present. Dark and rich with a woody note in the finish.

A great stout! Looks perfect, with a creamy beige head and an almost pitch black body. Taste is warm, roasted and malty but with a nice bite - not too sweet. Palate is smooth, albeit a bit watery. Finishes with the trademark O’Hanlon sludge.

Thanks to npempse for this. Pours turbid ruby/black with medium tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocoff, perfumy hops, slight cabernet. Tastes malty, somewhat rauchy, with some fruitiness, chocoff, and finishing dry milkyness. Very complex. Finishes rauchier, with less density in the palate. Nice.

Almost opaque black, not much head. Aroma of flowery hops and sweet lemon. Oaky and earthy roasted malty flavors and mildly hoppy finish. Quite watery body.

(Cask conditioned@St.Urho’s Pub, Helsinki) Quite dark, reddish brown color with a small head. Roasty, dry, slightly sour aroma. Quite mild, very siightly roasty and winous flavor. Medium-bodied with a velvety, low-carbonated mouthfeel. A quite light very easily drinkable brew.

A stout? looks more like a ale with low head. Flavor has a lot of bitterness from hops, too thin for a stout if you ask me. But nice bitterness.
