Pours a dark ruby red fading to black with a frothy mocha colored head. Slight cocoa aroma, with some wine in the background. Flavor hints at greatness at first blush with bits of port and chocolate but mellows out quickly, slighlty earthy. Some nuttiness in there as well. Mouthfeel is much thinner than I like in my stouts and a bit chalky. Still a decent stout though. dwyerpg (2529), Las Vegas, Nevada, USA

For a "ruby" stout, I thought the color would be redder. Light, fluffy head - unusual for a stout. Fairly heavy; enough that one at a time is plenty. Dry finish is interesting but really one of the downsides to this beer. Wiseblood (658), Clarksville, Tennessee, USA

First taste is a burnt, roasted character that slowly reveals a mild chocolate quality. Slight winey character is also present. Dark and rich with a woody note in the finish. turbothy (722), Bonn, Germany

Taste is warm, roasted and malty but with a nice bite - not too sweet. Palate is smooth, albeit a bit watery. Finishes with the trademark O’Hanlon sludge. Aroma of roasted malt, chocoff, perfumy hops, slight cabernet. Tastes malty, somewhat rauchy, with some fruitiness, chocoff, and finishing dry milkyness. Very complex. Finishes rauchier, with less density in the palate. Nice. TBone (6741), Pori, Finland

Almost opaque black, not much head. Aroma of flowery hops and sweet lemon. Oaky and earthy roasted malty flavors and mildly hoppy finish. Quite watery body. sayravai (3729), Helsinki, Finland

Roasty, dry, slightly sour aroma. Quite mild, very siightly roasty and winous flavor. Medium-bodied with a velvety, low-carbonated mouthfeel. A quite light very easily drinkable brew.
