Started good with a beautiful garnet color and tan head. Aroma was faintly of port, some chocolate, cherries, floral. Still, it wasn’t an inviting or potent aroma. Medium body and a sweet taste that was not in the least appealing. A big disappointment. Hangover (765), Atlanta, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 5, 2004 Pours a thick black with a frothy light tan head which, surprisingly, is lasting. Aroma is primarily sweet chocolate, coffee and cherries. Taste is pretty agressive. Probably one of the more "in your face" stouts that I have had, most likely due to the port wine. Coffee, dried fruit, dash of hops, and a slightly odd sourness which I again, attribute to the port. Not an excellent stout, but above average. Points for being unique, and a great appearance. hotstuff (3175), Indiana, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 4, 2004 Bottle. Poured a large sized frothy tan head with fine-small sized bubbles that mostly diminished. No carbonation observed, opaque and black hue. Malty, burnt, coffee, some chocolate, and roasty aroma. Roasty coffee flavor. Smooth and dry mouthfeel. Medium-full bodied stout with good lacing. Recommended. drinksalot (7), Georgia, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 3, 2004 Medium bodied stout with fruit, a touch of coffee and a little bit sweet. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 3, 2004 This bottled brew poured a large sized head of frothy foamy finely sized light brown colored beautiful bubbles that left behind a most pretty lacing. Been a long time since I saw a lacing that nice! The body was opaque black with no hope of visible carbonation! Excellent body! The aroma was a bit on the mild side, but very nice with strong malt coffee and mild chocolate scents mixed in with a few good roasted notes. The mouth feel was thick smooth and very heavy with malt and a lingering coffee malt finish. Scrumptious! The flavor contained notes of coffee malt hops chocolate and roasted nuts. Delicious. Great big light tan head with great lacing. Roasted aroma with grapes and other fruit. Color is a very dark red/brown. Medium bodied stout with fruit, a touch of coffee and a little sweet. Finish is dry and slightly bitter. A decent stout. veronika (410), Sweden
