May 14, 2004 Dark brown coloured body with a lighter brown coloured head. The head is frothy and lasts quite a while. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, chooclate, sweet cherries and a slight amount of english hops. Medium-bodied; Full flavour of roasted malt and coffee with some subtle fruity flavours and an oak taste that shares some tannins and leaves your mouth dry. Aftertaste just a prolonged bitterness and a taste of cherries. Overall, a pretty good dry stout with good bittering flavours and some other interesting characteristics. I bought this 50 cL bottle at Beers of the World in Rochester, New York and sampled it on my last day of classes at RIT, 14-May-2004.

May 6, 2004 Dark brown, almost black w/ finger of dense brown foam. Roasty chocolate & port nose w/ hint of wood & cherry. Full bodied, almost juicy feel. Roasty, vinous flavour of dark chocolate, burnt coffee, & complex fruit (cherry, grape, apricot). Middle is mildly sour. Finish is long, dry & bitter.

May 2, 2004 Updated: Dec 11, 2008[bottle] Pours a dark brown with slight hints of red, a very thick and fluffy tan head and lots of carbonation. Slightly sweet aroma with a malt undertone. You can faintly smell the port under all the malt. Initial roasted malt taste with a nice touch of bitterness in the finish. A very slight hint of chocolate at the end right before the bitter. I bought this beer on sale on a whim and did not know what to expect from it. I must say that I’m rather pleased with it.

Apr 29, 2004 Pours more brownish than black. slight red tint. Weak head. Slight chocolate nose with hint of maltyness. Minimal bitterness with roasty malt body. mild finish. This beer does not remind me of a stout, but actually in a negative way. I guess I was expecting more from this beer.

Apr 26, 2004 Very dark black with hints of red. Thin, light chocolate aroma with a bigger choc taste in the body. A bit of a bitter finish. Light bodied roasted malt taste with a smooth finish.

Apr 24, 2004 Reddish brown in colour with a large head. Nose is weak malty and roasted. The beer is light on flavour, a weak thin stout with a hint of port.

Apr 22, 2004 Poured a deep reddish violet color with a large tan head and some lacing. Musty, malty, slightly roasty aroma... some vinous port as well. Roasty chocolate tastes, a hint of port in the background. Alot less flavor than expected. Carbonation was average.
