Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

Nose has chocolate, coffee and malt, deep brown, ruby at the sides, small toffee head. Flavour is liquorice, roast coffee and cocoa, some red pitfruit and a bit nutty as well. Medium bodied, bitter, quite dry. Very good.

50cl bottle at home. quite brown, large light brown smooth head.mild flavor of roasted malts, faint liqueur, faint mild sweetish chocolate’ish aroma too. dry, roasted grains, lots of flavor for a "low" alc, faint charchoal, other flavors (licorice amongst them) blended in so well i can’t really discern them. but it makes the overall experience balanced and solid. Really like the flavor.

Bottled(500ml). -Black coloured, medium sized brown head, light vinous nose. Dry roasted malt, chocolate and licorice taste with notes of smoke and port wine. Smooth. Bitter roasty finish and aftertaste. Decent stout.

This is a great all rounder that is actually quite quaffable thanks to its low ABV. Nose shows attractive milk chocolate, together with a hint of a sweeter, more intense liquered note. Palate is mostly dry with lightly astringent roast and a layer of sweeter coco to finish. A comfort beer in many respects.

Bottle. Large light brown bubbly head that mostly lasted. Good display of lacework. Fin aroma of roasted malt, coffee, light liquorish, grain and maybe a hint of smoke. Medium bodied with a to lively carbonation for a Stout. Moderated sweet flavor with light bitter notes. Light roasted malty finish.

From bottle. Deep amber colour with a decent off white creamy head. Fruity aroma with what I describe as camomile lotion. Smooth syrupy texture. Slightly smoked, roasted flavour. I’m still getting the camomile lotion. Rich fruity, berry porter. No overwhelming flavours but a decent quality stout.

500 ml bottle from Bieropholie, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass. BB 08/02/10. DE22/09.

App.: Deep brown-black with a large, off-white head. Aroma: Lots of milk chocolate, slight nuts, stark mineral/ash, white grapes, light fruitiness, some black coffee, that’s about it. Palate: Medium body, moderate effervescence. Flav.: Milk chocolate, nuttiness, light ashen minerals, a touch of fruitiness, light hops – resin and pine; dry with a bit of bitterness.
