zvikar (413), Tel-Aviv, Israel Sep 11, 2008 Nice Dark Ruby color with large beige head, aroma of fruits and bitterness, smokey flavors with dark choclate and liquorice, strong bitter aftertaste, nice one MrAleman (111), Wiltshire, England Sep 9, 2008 Updated: Sep 17, 2008Wow, this is a great stout with lots of chocolate flavours, then a creamyness and a bitterness coming through dont know why they dont sell it in pubs it is surely a great stout. Sadly I try to avoid chocolate/coffee flavoured stouts. donfardz64 (406), Wellington, New Zealand Aug 27, 2008 Pours almost pitch black, fluffy white/brown head. Mainly chocolate nose with a slight vinous tinge to it. Strong chocolaty bitterness is the main flavour, not a lot of port coming through at all. There is a very slight fruitiness which is probably due to the port. But a good stout regardless! Very drinkable. Angeloregon (2024), Portland, Oregon, USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle from Bottleworks in Seattle, WA--Poured a dark dark black-brown body with a hint of red and a thick grey-tan head. Roasted sweet vinous tart nose. Chocolaty and chewy. Port flavor added an interesting touch. Thi sbeer would;ve been good with a sharp cheese. moelikebeer (219), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA Aug 3, 2008 Bottle. Very dark brown pour, medium head that dissipates quickly. Aroma of roasted malt and coffee. Similar flavor with a somewhat bitter finish. Decent stout, but I didn’t find any port characteristics in it. bobinlondon (786), Harrow, Greater London, England Jul 8, 2008 Handpulled cask at JDW St. Albans. Brown/black with beige head. Very wholesome tasty brew with lovely roasted malts, chocolaty bitterness and a touch of port. Very morish. fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA Jun 28, 2008 Labeled as O’Hanlon’s Ruby Stout. Shared at the Lost Abbey Angle’s Share Release. Roasted aromas as expected with hints of tartness. Tartness came through more in the flavor, but still never overtook the expected roasted and burnt malt flavors. Not too bad. azlondon (656), Fribourg, Switzerland Jun 27, 2008 Appearance: Dark brown. Bit of nice head.
Aroma: Fruity, vinous. Burnt grain.
Taste: Vinous. Fruity. Burnt grain. Pretty bitter.
