Commercial Description:
In the winter of 1996 we were inspired by an Irish tradition for a morning after 'corpse-reviver' - a splash of Port in your stout! The inspired blending of Rich Ruby Port with O'Hanlon's award-winning stout has created a unique and original masterpiece of craft brewing.

Near black with a thin tan head. Nice blackened malt and sweet wine aroma. Light/medium body and smooth. Flavor is semi sweet cocoa with dark roasted malts. Has a light vinous sourness in the finish. Not too bad. 1.20.2007

Bottled. Completely black, medium light-brown head. Taste alcoholic, with a big chocolatey note and long bitter finish. Aroma of coffee and chocolate.

Oily pitch pour collared with beige. Aroma sweetish and cola-like but burnt, with seductive toffeeish notes, chocolate, coffee and wood. That’s a 7 at least. Despite the splash of port, quite a dry roasty stout with a lingering smokiness Blackcurranty fruit in the background. Really nice stout, most definitely worthy of a resampling.

Bottle. Very dark with a pale brown head. Smells a slight bit smokey, slight liqourice, roastiness, coffee, can’t taste any port really. I quite like port too. Very dry, a little bitter. Feel a little let down, not that keen at all. Maybe just not my thing.

Black with a greyish head. Roasted malts in the aroma with further notes of coffee. The flavour is simlar to liqourice, mokka, roasted bread and it has a fine bitter ending.
